About Me / Q&A
What got you into cosplay?
I've always loved Halloween and dressing up, but I wasn't really aware of conventions and cosplay until 2006 when I first attended DragonCon. I was hooked when I found out I didn't have to wait around all year for Halloween!
What was your first costume and why?
Aeon Flux, because I wanted to make something that was a challenge and believe me, it was!
What is your favorite costume and why?
Right now my favorite costume to wear is Wonder Woman because everybody knows who she is. It's just a really fun outfit to wear at conventions.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I have a whole file of dream costumes and am slowly working my way through it.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
The first time I made and wore my Slave Leia outfit, which was before there were 20 Leias at every event. I wore it in a costume contest in 2004 and got up on stage wearing a velvet robe. I unpinned the neck and dropped the robe, and the crowd went crazy screaming. Right away the DJ announced "I think we know who won this contest..."
Do you participate in masquerades?
I used to, but haven't lately
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
I've gotten 1st place or placed in many costume contest over the years. That used to be my whole goal for Halloween- win back all the money I spent making my outfit!
Tell us a little about yourself
I started costuming and cosplaying as a hobby, and now am a costume designer and own a boutique called Three Muses Inspired Clothing that caters exclusively to women and girls who like to dress up. Recently I hired an assistant who works in menswear so we are expanding into new costuming territory.
