What got you into cosplay?
A big part of why I got into this crazy hobby is my best friend Cat, Kokoro-h.
We first went to AX together back in Anaheim when I was in fourth grade or something and I already knew I had to go in costume.
So that pretty much started it all. Now that I can actually think for myself, cosplay is a great creative outlet, and I love seeing a design and trying to bring it to life and add my own creative touches.
What was your first costume and why?
Way back when I attended my first AX, I believe I actually borrowed a Tenshi Muyo costume from my childhood friend. Her mom had always made her costumes from different animes that we watched together, and I guess I just liked that one at the time.
I guess my first real costume would have to be a rather crudely done Alice costume for Halloween 2008. It was the first time I actually sewed real clothes. Haha, fun times.
What is your favorite costume and why?
At this point, I think that honor goes to my Crisis Core Aerith costume. My group ended up doing these versions sort of at a boyfriend's request, and when I saw the art I thought it would be the easiest thing in the world. Wrong.
Having actually made this costume twice now, I realize that it was way harder than I expected. There were so many details that had to be done by hand and I put so much time into this costume. Now, I'm incredibly proud of it.
I've also met some really cool people partly due to this costume and I can't wait to make more memories!
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
As of July 11 2011:
Howl-Howl's Moving Castle,
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Anime Expo 2011.
Best four days of my life. The insane two week prep and all-nighter made everything better, and I couldn't have met more amazing people once we got to the con. First con with more than one costume too!
Tell us a little about yourself
Currently in high school, only child, and other than cosplaying I enjoy traveling, snowboarding, cooking, video games, ball jointed dolls, lolita, and a number of other odd things. Cosplaying really brings out my ego; whether that's good or bad is debatable.
I have to be one of the biggest dorks I know.
