About Me / Q&A

What got you into cosplay?
Going to conventions for a few years and seeing all the amazing cosplayers, but I only recently got un-lazy enough to work on doing it myself.
What was your first costume and why?
Ryo Bakura, from Yu-Gi-Oh, because of Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged, haha. That's the first one that I really did, though technically speaking I suppose it's Kaoru from OHSHC, for the masquerade skit. I don't really count it though because it wasn't something I particularly wanted to do, I only wore it during the masquerade, and there was next to no effort put into it.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Magnet!Kagamine Rin, because I have a partner to match with!
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Sandplay of the Singing Dragon Luka, because the dress is so pretty. Fai D. Flourite, from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, because that was the first costume and character that I ever really wanted to dress up as, wayyy back before I even knew what cosplaying was. Also, Utatane Piko. I really like his design, but I have no idea how I would ever go about something that ridiculous. Ridiculously awesome that is.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Most definitely the photoshoot with my unfinished magnet!Rin cosplay. It was missing the headphones, but it was fun anyways ^^ My Gakupo and I were just fancy and stuff. But it was super fun running around the Fairmont hotel in San Jose during Fanime and taking pictures and getting pictures taken with my Gakupo and my friend who was cosplaying Wedding Yuna.
Do you participate in masquerades?
I have once, but I don't usually. I did it in group with some friends. It was fun, but I currently have no plans for participating in another one.
What was your best masquerade experience?
My only masquerade, which was at Fanime 2010. We were group number one I believe, our group name was Roughly Seven Zebras and our skit was called You Won't Succeed in the Maquerade if You Don't Have Any Yaoi, or something like that. Probably something shorter and funnier than what I just called it.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Noooope, definitely not, haha.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm a senior in high school! I've got lots of wigs for having very few cosplays lol. I recently got a job!! It's at McDonald's lol. I'm enjoying it so far, and I'm enjoying the extra money for cosplaying~ And car insurance and other lame stuff. But cosplay money is exciting. I don't have too many hobbies, but I like browsing Tumblr and deviantArt, and I like cosmetology. This school year I'm taking a cosmetology class and I'm hoping to improve my makeup and hair skills, which would also help improve my cosplay makeup and wig styling abilities.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Pretty much all of my cosplays so far are items from the thrift store or things I've already owned that have been altered or changed in some way, though not necessarily by me. I like meeting new people and making friends, so feel free to send me a PM and say hi! ^^ If you want to contact me on dA, my username is sandy-saur.
My favorite anime
Kuroshitsuji I & II, Durarara!!, Lucky Star, K-On, Black★Rock Shooter OVA, Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z.
My favorite game(s)
Pokémon, The Sims, Tales of Symphonia. Don't usually play too many games though. I've watched all the FFXIII cutscenes and I liked it a lot, but I don't know if that really counts, haha. Also, Fallout 3. Love that game SO MUCH.
My favorite book(s)
I have been terrible about reading lately. But as far as regular books go, I like Harry Potter, the Inheritance series, Vampire Academy series, and others that I have forgotten and will hopefully remember later. Some of my favorite mangas are Kuroshitsuji, La Corda d'Oro, Death Note, The Gentlemen's Alliance Cross, Shugo Chara, and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles.
My favorite character(s)
Flynn and Rapunzel, pretty much all the Vocaloids, the main MLP cast, Ciel Phantomhive.
