What got you into cosplay?
Well, in my opinion, nothing. It was something I decided to do randomly. However, I watched Sailor Moon religiously when I was little and I adored the costumes even then. When I was seven, my best friend and I created our own characters and started to make their costumes. It didn’t work out though. When I got older, I started thinking dressing up like the actual characters would be fun so I pretty much thought, “What the hey? Why not?” So here I am, later in life, officially an addicted cosplayer. It’s a fun and interesting hobby but so many times, it’s nothing more than high school all over. It’s usually worth it though.
What was your first costume and why?
I don’t remember officially what my very first costume was but my first con costume was a little fairy but that’s been quite a long time ago. I think I had just barely entered school, if I was even in school, when I got it. I think I may have been six or seven. Like I said, a long time ago. At that age, I didn’t know what cosplaying meant nor did I know that the word existed. I probably would’ve thought it was something to laugh at. I’m an official con baby and have been raised in the con circuit thanks to having con nerds for parents. Hell, I was conceived and almost born at one. Throughout all the years though, I had a few basic Halloween costumes such as Hermoine Granger from the Harry Potter series. I’m actually small in those costumes now. Amazing, huh? Anyway, the first official “cosplay” costume I got was Himura Kenshin from Samurai X. Originally, it was for a skit but the skit fell through so I just took on the persona. It’s another costume that’s too big on me.
What is your favorite costume and why?
That’s a somewhat hard and unfair question to ask due to the fact that I have quite a few favorites. I think my all time favorite right now, though, would have to be either the Prisoner or Shinigami version of Rukia from Bleach. I love the character and the more I’ve read or watched the series, I’ve realized more areas where I connect with her. That makes cosplaying her even more worth it. Also, I’m a big IchiRuki fan and my fiance cosplays Ichigo so it’s a perfect match. Another favorite for the time being is Sora from Kingdom Hearts II. I mean who wouldn’t love cosplaying a goofy kid with a keyblade that fights Heartless? I’ve gotten a lot of glomps from cosplaying Sora and I’ve only done it one. That one time was priceless. Now, answer me this. If Sora and Roxas had a yaoi time, would it be considered narcissism?
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I hate to say it but there’s a lot more than just one. And most of them deal with dresses and I personally hate dresses. Also, I can’t sew worth a crap. The first one is Neo-Queen Serenity’s dress from Sailor Moon. It’s a beautiful dress yet, at the same time, it’s simple. The designs on it fit so well and the wings add just enough mystery to it. Another one is Princess Garnet’s dress from Final Fantasy IX. It’s another beautiful dress and the embroidery is so very detailed. It’s an overall great costume. The last one I will mention is Yuna’s wedding dress from Final Fantasy X. The way it’s made is just gorgeous and the feathers are a nice touch. The long train is so pretty and it’s something I would personally like getting married in. The sad thing is, about all of these, is I’m slowly learning how to sew and the progress I’m making sucks.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
There’s actually more than one. One was when I still cosplayed as Kenshin. I discovered just how popular the character was when I heard someone scream, “Kenshin!” and saw someone out of the corner of my eye just in time to see her as she glomped me. I was then dubbed her Kenshin. Another time would be when the same person knew me when I was cosplaying Ed and glomped me even though it had been awhile. The only thing is this time, she was able to knock me to the floor, clinging to me the entire time. There was one when I was cosplaying Human Inuyasha and my friend who was cosplaying Miroku chased after a Kagome and I chased after my Miroku friend because she laid on the Kagome and dry humped her.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Yes. I used to have a very horrible case of stage fright though. It was almost bad enough to knock me out. I have gotten a lot better though and it doesn’t bother me anywhere close to what it used to. It’s all due to a skit with a bunch of people. I mostly do group skits because they’re a lot more fun and it’s fun practicing too.
What was your best masquerade experience?
I haven't really had a best experience because when I don't freak out, something happens to spoil it all. I can say not freaking out this year on stage at Dragon*Con would have to be the best this year, but like I said something always spoils it...and well, that was spoiled too. I look forward to future masquerades though. One experience can't spoil every single one.

Tell us a little about yourself
I’m a 2007 high school graduate and will be attending AAU’s (Academy of Art University) online section in January 2008. I will be majoring in Photography. My dream job is working for National Geographic. Besides, taking pictures is fun and I’ve been published twice now. One time was last year and then again this year. I still live at home but that’s fine with me for now. I love cosplaying, but then again, if I didn’t, why would I be here? Just kidding around with you! I also enjoy drawing and writing. I love to read as well. Nothing beats curling up with a really good book. Reading allows a person to go with their imagination and leave this world behind. It allows people to escape even if it’s just a short while. I collect snow globes and ballerina dolls. Both are very pretty to me. I also collect anime, manga, and plushies, but that was a given I suppose. I’m betrothed to a wonderful man and proud of it. A date has not been set thus far. I think we’re just going to wait things out for now. Rushing into anything serious would be foolhardy. I’m currently unemployed but that doesn’t mean I’m not looking. I live in a small town after all. Most teenagers around here refer to it as Helligay (the actual name is Ellijay). Atlanta is slowly making its way up here though. There’s constant progress. That’s good though, I suppose. I'm a big fan of all kinds of music though I really can't stand hillbilly or gospel. I love so many different bands that it's not even funny. I love Japanese music too. The beats are always cool. Techno rocks as well.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I belong to two felines even though we have a complete total of ten. Most of them prefer to own both my mother and I. One owns my fiance. The funny thing is out of the ten, we have five females and five males. The females (listed from oldest to youngest) are Shadow, Tabico, Naruto, Goldie, and Muffin. The males (also listed from oldest to youngest) are Samson, Tuxedo Kamen (aka Tuxi), Chaos, O’Malley, and Renji. My two are Samson and O’Malley. It’s a father son duo so go figure. Yes, a few of the names cam from animes, but there’s a story behind each and every one, even those without anime names. Example: Renji earned his name due to a doujinshi and nearly destroying my Kon plushie. My mother and I also have five hermit crabs. They are Red Rum, Oreo, SpiderCrab, Sebastian, and Aizen (he’s a mean, little bastard!). There are also thirteen wild birds hanging around. Well, twelve I think are tame. The other, however, is wild but once he got a name, he seems to be a bit friendly. I've only named the wild one. We also managed to get two raccoons here. There’s a funny story behind that one, all involving them thinking their felines. One is named Poncho and the other is Cookie.
