About Me / Q&A

What got you into cosplay?
I grew up doing reenactments. That alone put my foot in the costuming door. Then I found Galaxy Express 999, Nausicaš and other anime when I was a couple years older. My fist cosplay was actually Nausicaš for my Halloween costume when i was 5.
What was your first costume and why?
Like many I fell in love with the work Miyazaki the first time I saw it. Nausicaš was my first experience with making a costume that wasn't Civil War based. The more I was exposed to different anime the more I fell in love with all the concepts of there costumes. I had no idea that you could be so detailed and out there with designs. I had to try my hand at it.
What is your favorite costume and why?
I think one of my favorite costumes that I did was one I never actually got to debut. It was Lulu during her pregnant stage of Final Fantasy 10-2. It was set for Gencon of 2007. I was due literally any day with my youngest daughter. My doctor threatened to put me in the hospital on bed rest until I had her if I thought I was going to go. I'd even made my two year old a moogle costume to wear up there. She opted to run around the house shouting KUPO! at random moments. While we didn't make it that year, that alone made up for it.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
There are a couple costumes from xXxHolic I've had my eye on. I'm a detail whore. So the more complicated the better.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
I've been known to go around town in cosplay from time to time. I always love it when little kids recognize the characters and want to talk about the outfits.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
I've never actually tried any competitions before. i've always done it for fun. But that may change this year. I thought about entering one of the competitions but Im not sure. Kinda nervous.
Tell us a little about yourself
I graduated school almost 10 years ago so thats out. I am married though and have two wonderful daughters who love to cosplay just as much as their mommy does. They are not shy about wearing it out in public either. I currently work in a craft and hobby store. I also teach a few classes there (painting, drawing and polymer clay work) I make plushies and am hoping to eventually open my own anime/cosplaying theme store.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I'm usually very shy but once i get into a costume I can be very outgoing. Never be afraid to ask me something just be sure you really want the answer. I've been told I can be very blunt sometimes. But other then that I'm a very laid back person.
