About Me / Q&A

What got you into cosplay?
I'd always loved anime, and I knew of cosplay, but of course I could never get into it because I had very few friends who likes this kind of stuff at the time and it would have been embarrassing for me alone. Then one magical day, I heard about Ai-Kon, an anime convention held in Winnipeg annually. At the news of this I quickly convinced a friend to go with me and bought our tickets. During the waiting period between wanting to go and buying our tickets, we both decided to cosplay right off the bat. Our costumes were amateur and good LORD did they need work. XD But it's been almost 3 years since that day, and every year I learn more and more. c:
What was your first costume and why?
My first costume was Dante, from Devil May Cry 3. I went as him because my friend wanted to be Trish from Devil May Cry 1. We makeshifted and glued everything together, it was horrible. But not bad for newbies with no access to sewing equipment. XD I can't even look at old photos. Luckily, over the past couple years, I've fixed and spruced up Dante as much as possible. I am now proud to show off this cosplay. c:
What is your favorite costume and why?
I don't have any favourites of mine, since I'm still learning. Probably the best costume I've ever seen was a trio cosplay group of Esther, The Pope, and the head lady in red from Trinity Blood. It was... so amazingly crafted.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I have many, haha. I know it sounds so typical, but one of my dreams is to make Cloud from the Final Fantasy7 series. But the Cloud from Crisis Core. He' so young and cute, I feel my facial structure can pull it off. c: This is before he gets all messed up too...
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Back in 2008, I had tons of fun dressing up as a DMC character knowing there was a whole group of these cosplayers. This is how I met many friends who are dear to me now. Granted, I imagine I was very weeaboo, what with it being my first year in a less-than-nice costume... But in my ignorant bliss, I had tons of fun. c:
Do you participate in masquerades?
I tried this year at Ai-kon, but it was a flop...
What was your best masquerade experience?
----- <3 ------
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Non, haha. I could never enter the competition, all that waiting...
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm currently in my second year of college in a Graphic Design program. It consumes 95% of my life, with a large workload and many time=consuming projects. This makes me very sad because I'm so passionate about working on cosplay, but I'm forced instead to do schoolwork. But this is my last year, and I know all my hard labour will pay off in the future...
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I'm here to show what I've got so far, and I hope that with time I'll keep getting better and better. c:
