About Me / Q&A

What got you into cosplay?
My sister was really into anime and asked me to go to Nan Desu Kan with her. I was reluctant at first because I thought I wouldn't fit in. But I agreed to give it a try anyway, despite having no idea what to wear!
What was your first costume and why?
Death the Kid was my first cosplay. My sister suggested Soul Eater to me and I immediately became charmed by the series and its Halloween-town. I found that I could relate a lot to Death the Kid's character, and thought he would be perfect for my first cosplay. I did his original outfit, his tattered smokey coat/cloak, and some casual looks for my first con.
What is your favorite costume and why?
I completely come alive while cosplaying as Mello from Death Note. I feel real, and it is definitely my most complex cosplay so far. I love it.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Those are fun secrets.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Creating and putting up our Death City display for Nan Desu Kan's Atrium Balcony Contest in 2011. We had Soul Eater themed events and cosplays. Everything took a long time to put together -- but the most difficult and miserable was that balcony entry. x_x The results were so worth the pain, though. It's some of our most memorable work.
Do you participate in masquerades?
I've only entered once. I plan on doing it again.
What was your best masquerade experience?
The feeling I got when I walked up on stage for my first costume competition. As soon as the music started playing, I was struck with intense energy I've never really felt before. It was completely awesome.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Placed in Masters Category won Best in Show - Nan Desu Kan's Cosplay Contest 2012; 1st Place - Nan Desu Kan's Atrium Balcony Contest 2011 (Yes, I consider it like a large costume that you can sip coffee in and chat with Excalibur. xD)
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm part of Death City Cosplay. We are a group of artists who dabble in all sorts of mediums to express our ridiculous need to create until the effort of something kills us. x_x
My favorite anime
Death Note for certain. It was my first, and definitely my love.
