What got you into cosplay?
Well, when I got back into the X-Men comics, I got introduced to the idea that it was okay to dress up as your favorite characters. Then I checked out some anime and the inspiration started. I'm an actress and writer so costumes and performing are second-nature.
What was your first costume and why?
I tried to go simple so I had my mom make me a halter-top dress and I paired it with a long skirt I had. I was trying to look like one of the ladies of Archades in Final Fantasy 12, but I soon realized the outfit didn't look anything like what they wear.
What is your favorite costume and why?
My Rogue costume. My friend helped me make the costume and guided me on how to find a wig and accessories that weren't very expensive. I love Rogue and the costume makes me happy and it's all spandex, which I previously swore I could never wear.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
There is an anime film the title of which I can't remember that has this young lady who is a seer and she wears the most awesome lavender/pink kimono ever. I also want to cosplay Yugito Nii, Yvaine from Stardust, and lots of other costumes.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
At the 2011 Phoenix Comicon, I wore my Belladonna costume. I took the light rail into downtown Phoenix to the con and on the train I was talking to a young lady dressed up as Amy Pond from Dr. Who. I told her I was dressed up as Belladonna and she told me that a friend of hers was dressed up as Gambit and that I should look for him. So I did and I found him and another man dressed up as Gambit. I walked up to them and said, "I'm your ex-wife." I never get to be that bold in my regular life. So we got some pictures together. And then I was part of the cosplay fashion show and other Gambit joined me posing onstage. That is just priceless.
Do you participate in masquerades?
I have only done one. I don't generally have time to even consider it right now.
What was your best masquerade experience?
I've only had one so I'll say that one. I did a skit for my OC shinigami Jenny at Saboten Con and everyone cheered and laughed! I was the only contestant who did a Bleach outfit. I didn't think I'd be the only one. I got lots of hugs and compliments on my performance.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
No. I'm not that awesome yet.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm an actress and writer. I've done commercials, industrials, and short films. I work whatever temp job I get and act as much as possible. I love reading, music, restaurants, shopping, travel, nature, and making the world a beautiful place. I sing like an angel and am an extensively-trained dancer.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I would love to write cosplay skits. I am a natural blonde and my last name is Swedish. I am fluent in Spanish too.
