About Me / Q&A

What got you into cosplay?
All my life I have been a theatre geek and one of my favorite parts about being in a production was the day that everyone got to see their costumes! Cosplay combines my passionate character obsessions with my love of acting and my love of wearing gorgeous ridiculous clothes so I think it’s a good fit~ When I went to my first con it just seemed a natural thing to do...so actually I have never been to a con without wearing a costume. ;;;
What was your first costume and why?
First worn is Forte from Mamotte Lollipop! Though Asuka from Evangelion was the first costume I “made” (I got help on the dress though lol never having sewn before). The first costume I made all by myself was Suzaku from Code Geass..........it wasn’t great but I redid it recently and it came out awesome!
What is your favorite costume and why?
Haha a hard one! I love all my costumes since I am very passionate about all of their characters! But Asuka is very special to me, being my favorite character from my favorite anime and also one of my first ever costumes. I will never stop cosplaying her! But recently Robin from Fire Emblem has also become very important to me since I am deathly in love with his character, I’ve met so many great friends through wearing it, and since I fix it a bit every time I feel I come ever-closer to “perfection.” I also love my Sakura outfit from Tsubasa since she’s another of my favorite anime girls from one of the first manga I ever read and the hundreds of little bells cause quite the commotion in the convention hall, lol.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Of course! Right now the ultimate dream is to do Asuka’s plugsuit version from Evangelion! I’ve wanted to do it since I first started cosplaying but I’ve been waiting to build up my skills! Another long-time dream is Subaru from Tokyo Babylon...though I wish more people knew the series so I wouldn’t be alone. All his outfits are so cute and I love him to death! More realistic dreams are Marth from Fire Emblem, Flynn from Tales of Vesperia (gotta practice that armor mmm), and Haruto from Valvrave the Liberator (REALLY GOTTA PRACTICE THAT ARMOR MMMM).
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Dressing up as Asuka Langely Sohryu for Anime Expo. I put a lot of thought into that costume because Asuka is one of my favorite girl anime characters and from my favorite series of all time. My cousin was Rei, and since we'd been having such a cally time at the con before, despite it being my first ever, that last day was special. People were actually talking to us! They actually recognized us! And we met a lot of great fellow Eva fans. We even got interviewed by a podcast! I was happy that so many people shared my love for Evangelion. My favorite part of the day was getting into a large group fight over who was better: Rei or Asuka. Asuka of course! And I knew that was the true con experience! The true joy of cosplay! Being able to connect with people over something you love...I have cherished that feeling ever since~
Do you participate in masquerades?
I did in the past! But it was a disaster! It just added too much stress to the con...and even when everyone in the group was great and looked great and acted great to go through all that stress and time commitment sucked the joy of cosplay right from me. I decided I would rather focus on enjoying my time at the con, and from that point on I have become much happier! For the “performance” aspect I think cosplay photography is a lot more fun! And can be cherished forever, without the stress.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Getting night high underneath the theatre at Anime Expo. Despite the stress of that time we were able to meet so many amazing, fun, and friendly people that night and I'm happy that they all put up with our newbish excitement and craziness. I was sooooo tired though after spending nights without sleep and days without food. I wanted to be the one in the wheelchair! Lol! Instead I had to push it. U,U
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
None...Yet! :D
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm a super nerdy world-traveling student! I consider myself a vagrant and I never really know where for sure I’ll end up. But this means that I can go to lots of different anime conventions to have many different experiences~! Since my college is on the East Coast but my family is on the West Coast, I spend a lot of time bouncing around the United States. But I also love to travel and study abroad! Actually Japan is my country of focus, since I plan to move here permanently one day. I prize art above all else and consider myself an artist, though of many mediums! Cosplay is just one of those~ And of course, I am a rapid anime, comic, and videogame fan! So please to me about your OTP~ ;)
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Lol I could go on forever! I'm loquacious like that. ;P Realistically I don’t come onto this site very often, but I do pop in occasionally! And I’ll try to update it a bit~
I also LOVE to MMORPG. Gods I love to RPG, any kind! I guess that's what (can) make me a good cosplayer~ ;)
