What got you into cosplay?
A fascination with Medieval and Renaissance garb, at first; then an obsession with musicals and theatre; and finally an obsession with Sailor Moon and anime. Finally some friends convinced me to join them in cosplaying Utena for a con, and, well, stuff happened and we're on our way!
What was your first costume and why?
I guess you could call it a wench costume. Sort of. Mainly it was a skirt and blouse because that was all I was capable of sewing at the time.
What is your favorite costume and why?
My Gypsy Queen costume. I don't know exactly why, but it is my absolute favorite thing I have ever made. It's beautiful and tacky at the same time, and it just fits me so perfectly.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I'd like to cosplay Aerin, my PSO character.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Definitely would be the time I saw Cats in costume in Chicago. The people in charge of the theatre were so cool! They moved us from the balcony (fourth floor) to orchestra level, which was absolutely amazing. They even added chairs for us in the back so we could be on the same level as the actors! And afterward the house manager called us over to one side and told us to wait there; a few minutes later the cast came out and we got to meet them! I got my gloves signed (I have autographed Cat-gloves!), and one of my friends got a kiss from Mr. Mistoffelees! It was so cool!
Do you participate in masquerades?
Yes!
What was your best masquerade experience?
Winning the Judge's Choice award for my first ever real cosplay. What a blast!
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
I guess I can no longer say no.
Tell us a little about yourself
I just started college at UW-Madison. I have a twin sister (hah! I'm older - by one minute), LadyJade. I am obsessed with website design and video games. Especially Phantasy Star Online/Phantasy Star Universe.
