About Me / Q&A

What got you into cosplay?
My friend Jacqui (alias Katrina Strife) went to a convention while we were in high school, cosplayed, and told me about it. I went, "OMG I WANNA DO THAT!!" and we organized a huge Sailor Moon group to perform "Sailor War Supreme" at Megacon 2002.
What was your first costume and why?
At a convention, it was Sailor Venus in a full 12 person cast of Sailor Moon. We made the group to sing "Sailor War Supreme" at Megacon 2002 and won Best Group! Although, I guess you can say Claudia was REALLY my first costume. My mom made it for me in 2001 or something for Halloween. The wig was added in 2004 at Megacon!
What is your favorite costume and why?
My Tohru Honda costumes. They are comfortable and I have some great memories with them, including METROCON's Anime Human Chess Match and Fantasy Masquerade back in "the day," haha.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Oh, do I! That list just keeps on changing!!! XD
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Playing Misato in an Evangelion group at AFO4 (2003). We changed the words to "Yatta!" (by Happatai) to make it relevant to the characters and I even painted a banner with the NERV logo and red oak leaves and our Shinji jumped through the banner in his underwear. N-E-R-V LEAVES! XD We won Best Comedy and had a BLAST!!!
Do you participate in masquerades?
Occasionally, if I am really proud of a costume (and if it fits the convention's rules, since I am deviating away from anime/manga costumes).
What was your best masquerade experience?
When I entered my Mew design at AFO5 in 2004. I won Best Original/Other, and I was really surprised at the response I got for the costume.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Best Group at Megacon 2002 (Sailor Moon Characters) and Best Original/Other at AFO5/2004 (Mew of Pokémon). I picked up a First Place at Necronomicon for my METROCON Mascot design, and I have also won a handful of hall awards here and there, as well as awards at themed photo shoots.
Tell us a little about yourself
I am not currently in school, but I have an AA in Music Education at a local Community College, and I plan to go back to get a degree in Public Relations. I work full-time at Walt Disney World, and I love it, and I collect ABJDs and I am dappling in doll face-ups. Another hobby is performing, from acting to singing to stage combat, and even Mime! XD I just love being creative and playing make-believe.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I really like chatting with people, so don't be afraid to shoot me a line or something. :D I am not one of those cosplayers that hoard construction secrets (Heck, my sister and I have a cosplay tips blog on Tumblr), and I am always willing to help to the best of my abilities. So, if you want to know how I did something, just ask. If I can remember how (or at least in part), I will be happy to share!
