What was your first costume and why?
Mireille Bouquet from Noir -- I resembled the character greatly and it was very simple for me to cosplay her! Of course, the show was so new, no one knew I was in costume....
What is your favorite costume and why?
I love the attention our other costumes get, but I still really like playing Edward Elric. Is that embarrassing -- EVERYONE plays Edward Elric! But the character and story are meaningful to me beyond silly fandom, and it's such a fun persona to be, too, especially in a group cosplay. (It was also the first costume I ever sewed from scratch, so I'm quite proud of it.)
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Hmm. I keep doing them, or at least starting them (not all have debuted yet).
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Let's be honest, I really go to cons for the opportunity to cosplay. :-) I love to dress up and pose for photos. Probably that says something about my basic personality....
Do you participate in masquerades?
Yes. It's why I go to cons! /laugh/ Really, I do enjoy the masqs. I'm always competing or staffing.
What was your best masquerade experience?
It might have to be accidentally entering Journeyman instead of Novice and then getting bumped up to win Best Masters. Unbelievable. /UPDATE/ Hearing our names called for Best In Show. Absolutely unbelievable! /UPDATE/ Um. Somehow, we've become a popular cosplay group. I still don't have any idea how, really.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
(I'm not going to keep this current....) - Best Hall Masters for Gankutsuou (version 2), Youmacon 2006 - Best in Show for Gankutsuou (version 2), Ohayocon 2007 - Best in Show for Fullmetal Alchemist, Daigacon 2007 - Best Advanced Performance, Saiyuki, Animarathon 2007 - Best Anime, GenCon 2007 - Best in Show, Youmacon 2007 - Best Masters, Ohayocon 2008 - 2nd Place Skit, Anime Central 2008 - Best Professional division, GenCon 2008 - Best in Show, Youmacon 2008 - Best Masters, Ohayocon 2009
Tell us a little about yourself
I am a professional animal trainer, hence my "Behavior Analyst" handle; I own my own business in that field. (www.CaninesInAction.com) I am also a fiction writer and a professional instructor. I am a Christian. I am active in forums only in spurts; if you want to be sure to reach me, PM me!
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I am really terrible at maintaining my Cosplay.com account. You can see more photos and tutorials at http://www.AndSewingIsHalfTheBattle.com
My favorite anime
You expect me to fit this into a list? I like good plots and character development, first of all; pretty visuals and interesting settings are next.
My favorite game(s)
It probably still has to be Myst! But I don't really get into computer or console games; I'll play to be social, but I'd rather do something off-screen.
My favorite book(s)
Definitely not possible to fit into a list. It runs from The Count of Monte Cristo (Dumas) to The Name of the Wind (Rothfuss), with The Symphony of the Ages series (Hayden) and the Farseer Trilogy (Hobb) in between.
My favorite character(s)
Morgan of Skopje (Kingcraft series), Judah Ben-Hur (Ben-Hur), Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist), Bast/Bastas (The Name of the Wind), Luca (Shard & Shield)
My favorite movies(s)
All these lists! Ben-Hur (1959), Casablanca, Singin' In The Rain, The Court Jester, Zorro the Gay Blade, Lord of the Rings trilogy, others
My favorite actors/actresses
I don't really do the celebrity thing, but I admire the work of Charleton Heston, Danny Kaye, Cary Grant. (How's that for eclectic?)
