What got you into cosplay?
I'd been wanting to cosplay since I was about 12, but I didn't know anyone else who was into anime, and didn't have the means yet to go to cons by myself. But in my second to last year at high school I finally met some anime friends, and one of them looked exactly like Kikumaru Eiji from The Prince of Tennis. So I introduced her to the anime and the idea of cosplay, and then we started cosplaying together.
What was your first costume and why?
Fuji Syuusuke from The Prince of Tennis. Tenipuri was my favourite anime at the time so I wanted to cosplay someone from Seigaku. I didn't know how to do wigs and makeup yet at that time, so I chose Fuji because I look the most like him and I can cosplay him with my real hair.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Also Fuji. Through cosplaying him, I met lots and lots of awesome friends, and I still go to Tenipuri cosplay meetings at a regular basis. I don't have any groups like that for my other costumes.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I already got to make most of these. =D But I'd love to try the 14 year old version of Trunks from the TV special, but I'm still looking for someone who wants to be future Gohan in that case. Another dream of mine is to get a cosplay group to do a complete Seigaku team from Prince of Tennis. But I just don't know enough people willing to cosplay the right characters at the same time... T_T
Do you participate in masquerades?
I have participated in cosplay acts a couple of times, but always unplanned, because I was asked by friends or convention staff shortly beforehand or on the con itself. I never really put together any acts with the intention to win anything. XD;
What was your best masquerade experience?
I'm not sure about 'best', but the most memorable experience was having my first kiss on stage in the spur of the moment at the Dutch Yaoicon. The most fun was probably participating in the disco dance part of 'isshin doutai' from Tenimyu, with some friends who were cosplaying Koharu and Yuuji from Shitenhouji. Oh, and performing 'Ore ga Inakya' from the Hunter x Hunter musicals, that was a long-time dream of mine and actually getting to do it for real was so awesome that it made me cry on stage. ^^;;
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm currently a university student, studying linguistics and Japanese language and culture. Have been into anime for about 10 years, and never want to stop doing what I'm doing right now. <3
