Rikku-chan

I'm an Art major at UIC! I adore drawing and painting (go Oil Paint!) and taking photos! I seem pretty shy around new people, but once you get to know me I'm told I can be pretty loud and outgoing!! XD Feel free to say hi to me if you see me at a con or even out of costume!! I love making new friends, especially cosplayers!! ^^

What got you into cosplay?
Back in 7th grade I got into Final Fantasy and Chobits...and as I was google-ing pictures of various characters pictures of cosplay popped up and curiosity got the best of me!! ^^
What was your first costume and why?
well...my first costume was Belldandy...but I didn't really make it myself...in fact not really at all...my old best friend helped out!! HAHA^^ so I count my Rikku FFX costume as my first REAL cosplay. She's my favorite character EVER!! and I feel I can connect to her perky/cheerfulness^^ and she's SO CUTE!!! I'm SO PROUD of that costume!!
What is your favorite costume and why?
My fav. is my FFX Rikku costume...because I put so much work into it...and it's all hand sewn (I could NOT sew for BEANS at the time!!) and I'm just really proud of myself for pulling it off!! haha Psychic'er Rikku is also one of favorites!! *SQUEE* PLEATED SKIRT!! ^^ True Form Midna also is a fav cause of the extreme labor of love put into it! It really pushed my skill as a cosplayer so I could see what I was capable of!
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
-Princess Garnet in her white gown -Rikku and her FFX-2 Machina Maw -FFX Rikku's wetsuit -Shiva from FFX
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
ACEN 2007 with my YRP!! It was Hiyoko-chan as Yuna, Miyuka as Paine, and me as Rikku! it was AMAZING!! I couldn't have asked for anything better or more fun! ^^ and at Ohayocon 2008, my boyfriend Mike (Gipps!) dressed up as the PBJ Time Banana and would lie on the floor making people trip XD FUUUN TIMES!! Youmacon 2008: MAN TETRA. 'nuff said XD
Do you participate in masquerades?
Sometimes! They're more fun to watch in my opinion XD haha
What was your best masquerade experience?
My friend and I did a little skit in our FFX Rikku/Yuna costumes! (I was Rikku of course!) and we won first place!! YAY!! =D you can see it on youtube! http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=ForeverRikku or at Reactor 07, I randomly met a really cute Yunie! so we just did the catwalk thing together!! it was crazy awesome!!
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Yeps! my FFX Rikku won First place at a mini-con that all the highschool anime clubs in my area held! and then in 2008 my Psychic'er Rikku won an Honorable Mention there!
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm an Art major at UIC! I've got two younger sisters who DESPISE cosplay with a passion (VERY VERY SAD). I'm totally obsessed with RPG games and Anime and I adore wearing my Kimonos around my house! I play the piano and the violin and I enjoy writing. I like to ride my bike around the local forest preserve when it's warm and take pictures!! yeah...^^ hahahaa
