What got you into cosplay?
Well, really, I started cosplaying because I got the urge to make what was essentially a giant Kunai. It came out great for about 1 day work and I still have it around to this day. Really, my friend had got me into working with duct tape and I really enjoyed it so I naturally dragged it further and further
I cosplay just to show off what I make.. like my biggest creation, Karasu, which was a full sized puppet created from cardboard duct tape and tennis balls.. among other things.
What was your first costume and why?
It was an original character of no particular name, but he was a ninja of the Hidden hobo village. I figured I would've had more friends doing the hobo ninja thing, but it didn't turn out so well.. I still enjoyed it and got my picture taken a few times. I regret doing the original character thing because it's just embarrassing to explain that you're no one really and you just wanted to dress up at the con.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Definitely my Kankuro Costume. To date it's brought me a lot of praise and glory and because I took the time to make a giant puppet to go with it. Also, there's no way I could retire it.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I think it would be awesome to do Skin Face Gabishi, complete with the skull covered Air Trecks.
I made a Kankuro, complete with Karasu and that rocked, and to take it further I made Sasori in puppet form which also rocked. Or so I'm told.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Not being able to move from one spot because people kept asking to take my picture over and over at ACen 04'
Do you participate in masquerades?
I wanted to when I had my first real costume and also Karasu, but the ACen cosplay registration was closed before it even opened and I missed my chance. After the Reactor I plan on doing it more often, it's quite a thrill.
I don't often get into masq. events because I'm working on it til the last minute and I keep saying "I'll register when I finish, just to be safe"
What was your best masquerade experience?
walking out onto the runway at the Reactor 05 and getting just pure screams.. not as much as other cosplayers, but for my first time, it was a great feeling.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Actually, I won best male in the City of Archvillains costume contest as Xius the assassin. Honestly, I thought my costume wasn't that great and my description wasn't poorly written at best. But yey, I got a TiVo and a 1 year subscription from that.
