What got you into cosplay?
An obsession with most things Japan coupled with a love of crafting. It just seemed natural.
What was your first costume and why?
Jibril from Angel Sanctuary. It's my favorite manga and my friends told me about the convention while I was reading it. I got so excited that I made the costume the next week despite the convention being four months away.
What is your favorite costume and why?
So far my favorite costume has been my Kingdom Hearts Yuffie one. My husband and friend were Cloud and Leon so it was really fun being in a group.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
When my skill and time allows it I'm going to make an Armored Ventus costume. I actually like Aqua's armor more but unfortunately my body is more suited to a fifteen year old boy than a girl my age.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Maybe this isn't the most memorable but I think it's the funniest. At my last convention I was Elincia from Fire Emblem and I decided to make her sword 'Amiti' instead of the staff she's been drawn with. During the convention a guy came up to me with his friends and started shouting 'This is the sword I was telling you about. It's the one that lets you hit four times!!'
Do you participate in masquerades?
Just walk-ons and craftsmanship contests.
What was your best masquerade experience?
My husband entered our costumes individually (The focal point of his costume was his prop and armor and mine was sewing and my wig) but during award the judges announced we were husband and wife and gave us an award as Team Kofoed. The crowd broke out in an 'Aaaawwwe' moment...they sounded like a sitcom audience from the '80s.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Second place craftsmanship for our Ike and Elincia costumes.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm Jazzy (cool name, right?). I'm happily married to Genro. We cosplay as husband and wife. We live in Utah where, sadly, there is only one big convention a year. We spend the entire year leading up to the convention working on one elaborate project. 2011 was our first big year. Our project was a Kingdom Hearts-Final Fantasy group (Yuffie, Leon and Cloud). 2012 was Ike and Elincia from Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. 2013 is Lissa and Chrom from Fire Emblem: Awakeing and 2014 is back to Radiant Dawn as Tibarn and Leanne.
