What got you into cosplay?
I had been attending cons for two years before my first cosplay for the TCG tournaments. Well, they changed the game dynamics which completely messed with my deck, so I decided that that year (('04)) I was going to go and fully enjoy the con rather then pay attention to the card games going on. It was then that I decided that I was also going to cosplay and enter the contest.
I made a horribly failing Miaka since I am a really big FY fan.
What was your first costume and why?
School Girl Miaka was my first costume. Why? Because it was easy, cheap and still fun. Plus, I was able to make most of it on my own. I can say though, I learned my lesson of not leaving the finishing of it the day before you decide to wear it. ^-^;;; Bad n00bish mistake.
Plus, I didn't know anything about fabric choice, interfacing and to not go near the $1 fabric. I also had no skills in wig or prop construction. I have definitely learned my lessons since then.
What is your favorite costume and why?
I actually have two:
My Winry: It's super comfy and so much fun to cosplay as. The fact that I can actually move around in it without worry about pieces getting knocked into is a major bonus. Then there is
Rosiel: I have been wanting to do this version for a very long time but knew I'd seriously mess it up without learning a lot first. It's been four years since I first saw the Red Leather Version and it's amazing that I finally went through with it.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
At the moment, I have a few that I'd like to re-do, such as Kuja and Kadaj. I'm also planning on starting Fai from Tsubasa which will take a lot out of me if I do all three layers.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Meeting some really awesome people and actually becoming good friends with them. We all get along so well and never have to worry about any dramu or what not.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Yes, pretty much every con though this year ((2008)) I'm actually being serious and testing my skill levels.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Hmmm. I'd have to say meeting Spooks at Megacon 07. It was so much fun just chillin' in line and talking. Now we're actually friends. =P
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
"Best Group Award" Journeyman Level at Florida SuperCon. ** "Anime Sushi Hall Contest" MegaCon 2008 ** "Judges Award" MetroCon 2008
Tell us a little about yourself
I graduated Highschool in "04 and was going to UCF up until the winter. I ended up getting engaged and decided to move down with him ((though now we are not together anymore)).
I work for Gamestop and am in college to finish my degree in Game Art and Concept Design.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I'm a DnD'er, an artist, and just an all around geek. PM or IM me if you want to know more because I seriously don't have any idea as what to write here. xD
