About Me / Q&A

What got you into cosplay?
Going to conventions and looking at cool pictures of other cosplayers on internet! :)
What was your first costume and why?
My first costume worthy of calling a "costume" was Chrno from Chrono Crusade. It happened because I found out about cosplay and during that time I was really into the anime and manga Chrono Crusade.
What is your favorite costume and why?
I can't choose between these 3: Elizabeth because of the experience of making it, Wes because of my love for the character and Lilith because it was the first costume were I worked together with a good friend, so it was a great experience!
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I have 3 ultimate cosplay dreams! First up is to make armor/mecha Mewtwo. I have been a huge Mewtwo fan since I saw the first Pokémon movie and love that appereance of him! I'm thinking of making it more alien/Xenomorph-material-like, instead of making it like a fursuit like a lot of other Mewtwo cosplayer do. Anyway, this project is huge and it will be in a very far away future that I will make this! :'D Second are some more extensive Mecha Musume designs (but I'm currently taking a break from Mecha Musume :') ). Third is Beelzebub from the Seven Deadly Sins. I think her outfit is quite do-able but there are so much details and small parts that it will be a huge project!
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Getting people together so you can be a group of the same series! Also, having "fans" is really nice! It really makes me happy when someone says I look good, wants a picture of me or says he's been looking forward to my next costume! ^-^
Do you participate in masquerades?
I did a few times in the past and recently I entered a masquerade with my Elizabeth costume (performance can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wte26BkZdJs )! It is quite stressfull doing competitions, so I'm taking a break again! xD
What was your best masquerade experience?
Being on stage and everyone clapping at what I did. xD
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
No (not yet?). :)
Tell us a little about yourself
I give a lot of workshops, lectures and panels at conventions in my free time! (I hope that maybe someday I can do that for a living...) My real job is an (not very interesting to talk about) office job. I am Event Staff for the Dutch convention YaYcon and we always like to hear ideas about for events, feel free to send me a message! I love writing and reading and I have a review-blog where I mainly write figure-related articles and guides (see http://myfigurecollection.net/profile/Maakie/blog/ ). I have a really nice soon-to-be-husband. And we have been together since 2010. :) I set this profile up in 2012 and having been cosplaying since 2008-2009ish (even before that I was really into costuming, but I started with anime characters around that time). I made a profile here because I wanted a place where I can show my cosplays And the lay-out of cosplay.com looks like a portfolio site! ^w^ My main point when choosing a new character/cosplay is his/her personality and his/her clothing. I really love shorts, long capes/robes and army style uniforms. But when I deeply love a character I also cosplay different types of clothing. :)
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I think the above story is already pretty long, no? xD
My favorite anime
Baccano!, Chrno Crusade, Steins;Gate, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Strike Witches
My favorite game(s)
Almost everything as long as I like the story/setting/environment, although I mostly play horror-games and RPG's. I'm a PC-gamer, and own a few handhelds and old consoles.
My favorite book(s)
Currently reading and loving Zaregoto. No spoilers, please!
My favorite character(s)
Too much! xD Well at least every character I have cosplayed I really love!
My favorite movies(s)
I have too much movies I like, so i will just name my favorite genres: Suspense, Thriller and Sci-Fi! :)
My favorite actors/actresses
Johnny Depp! :D
