What got you into cosplay?
I have always had a love for costumes. They allow you to step into the world of any character. You can become them.
What was your first costume and why?
Snow White. I originally wanted to cosplay her for "Character Day" during spirit month at my homeschool co-op. But I'm a stickler for quality and film-accuracy, so I bought a professional-grade costume, knowing I would keep the cosplay for future events.
What is your favorite costume and why?
At the moment, I only have the one cosplay, so my favorite would be Snow White (Disney). She is my "beauty icon", you could say. I'm very pale, and her character helped me embrace my skin (now I try to stay as fair as possible). The works of Disney shaped my childhood and will always be a huge part of me (I will only be doing Disney cosplay).
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
This summer, I'd like to sew an Ariel town costume-- the blue skirt, black corset, and scoop neck blouse.
After that, my next one will be Rapunzel from "Tangled" (one of my favorite films). I know it will be a huge endeavor, but I plan to make the dress and wig myself.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
I was riding in the passenger seat of our van on our way home from "Character Day" (my Snow White cosplay debut). I was still in full costume, of course. As we stopped at the red light, an elementary school bus pulled up next to us. A little girl saw me through the window, shocked. I waved, smiled, and blew her a kiss. The look on her lit-up face was priceless.
Tell us a little about yourself
I love Disney, of course, particularly the Disney princesses. I love mermaids (I hope to purchase a silicone mermaid tail within a year). I love the art of filmmaking. I'm a foodie. I'm a birder. I love the arts. I listen to film scores and classical music more than anything else. I love photography. And I suppose I should mention that one of my biggest passions is singing.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Check out my YouTube channel, where I post my fandubs (covers) of Disney songs.
My favorite book(s)
The Hunger Games (Collins)
The Invention of Hugo Cabret (Selznick)
My favorite character(s)
Disney Princesses-- the three who are closest to my heart are Snow White (my beauty inspiration), Ariel (my childhood favorite, because she's a mermaid), and Rapunzel (I have sentimental attachments to her and to "Tangled").
My favorite movies(s)
Disney animated films, Pixar films, Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings. There is also an assortment of films that I still love, but not as much as the others, including Chocolat, Little Women, Julie & Julia, and more.
