About Me / Q&A

What got you into cosplay?
I had an interest in Final Fantasy when I was 13, and I stumbled upon the Studio of Masquerade Arts website while searching for images. It got me hooked on the world of cosplay, and a year later, I made my first costume (in 2004).
What was your first costume and why?
My first anime costume was Ed from Cowboy Bebop for Halloween 2004, because it's such a simple costume and my friends suggested it. It was admittedly awful, but we all have to start somewhere.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Marisa Kirisame from Touhou Project. First styled wig, first self-made props, and first costume I've felt really girly in.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Saber from the Fate series.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Probably being in a huge group for Anime North 2008.
Do you participate in masquerades?
On occasion. I participated in Anime North 2008, 2009 and 2011's masquerades.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Anime North 2008 - first and only masquerade experience so far. Green room was great and we did really well, with the exception of our awkward exit.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Fai - Hall costume award: Anime North '07 | Velvet - Best Master Craftsmanship, Best in Show (with group): Anime North '08 | Lelouch - Best Detailing - Journeyman (with Merino as Suzaku): Anime North '09 | Marisa - Hall costume award: Anime North '10, 2nd place: ACParadise Touhou Contest
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm an Art and Art History/English double major, finishing my final year with a combined HBA and diploma from U of T and Sheridan. It will have very little relevance to my actual career, though.
