What got you into cosplay?
Wanting to be the character in real life- and the challenge of bringing characters to life. There's also something about making the costumes that's addicting, too.
What was your first costume and why?
Very first costume was my Star Wars characters- Jedi. I did a Jedi costume for Halloween of 1999, and I've been stuck in cosplay ever since. Jedi was really easy to make, and it was a good jump-start.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Hm. So far, my fav has to be Shinigami Rukia just because it's so comfortable and she's such a great character- and I don't have to worry about people mistaking me for a totally different character. *cough*SaikaisNOTTrunks*cough*
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Don't we all? Hm... Ultimate dream costume.. The Princess Zelda for Twilight Princess, probably. At least for this moment in time. ^_~
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Just meeting so many new people at the cons. Of course, being in the MetroCon Anime Human Chess Match (2006 and also 2008) was totally awesome. ^^ (So was having Monkey Punch use my laptop for his panel right after the Chess Match.. ^^;;; ) Also, being a member of Last Chance Myu. ^_^
Do you participate in masquerades?
Every once in a while.
What was your best masquerade experience?
The dance cosplay my neice and I did at AFO5 2004.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Yep- Best Cosplay in an Alternate Category at AFO5 2004 for our Sailormars and Sailorjupiter dance to La Soldier. I also got a Judge's Spotlight/Favorite award at Yasumicon 2006 for my Sailormars. ^^ Oh, and coming in 2nd overall on the CosplayLab Sailormars Look-a-Like contest. ^^
I also won Best Attention to Detail for my Seramyu Saturn at JACON 2007.
Tell us a little about yourself
I graduated from UCF in Orlando (December 2006), and after moving back home in Delray with my mom and our new cat for a while, I've returned to Orlando (taking the cat with me). Early 2006 I suffered the loss of not only my father but also my 16-year-old cat.
My siblings are all older than me and live on their own. I tend to cosplay with my niece and my friends.
Hobbies include drawing, singing, cosplay, jewelry-making, prop-making, writing, and sitting on my lazy butt in front of the computer. ^^;;
For the summer of 2006 I had a part-time job at Rag Shop (fabric & crafts store). And now that I've graduated? I' went back to working there. ^^; Then after I moved I went to work at Jo-Ann for a while, and now I work for UCF. ^^
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I've spent 5 and a half weeks in Japan. ^______^
