What got you into cosplay?
In middle school I met a few friends who had heard about Otakon and we went. The first year I didn't costume, but I felt a little left out since my friends all had costumes and so I swore that I would costume myself the next year.
What was your first costume and why?
My first "official" costume was Rikku from Final Fantasy X. My friends and I were doing a group and they said that I looked just like Rikku and had the personality for her, and so I made the costume.
What is your favorite costume and why?
My favorite costume as of this moment has to be my Tohru. I finished it the Friday before Otakon 2007 and was quite impressed with myself. I did all the pleating by hand without a pattern and no sewing machine and the costume held together.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I'm really partial to making a rosebride dress. I really want to be Shiori in the gown. I'm going to attempt it for Katsucon...hopefully...
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
My most memorable costume experience so far has been when I was Touga from Utena. I remember being in line at the Starbucks at the BCC for Otakon and a group of girls came running up to me (one of them claiming to be my lost cat).
Do you participate in masquerades?
Most of the time I try to...I love being on stage. But a lot of times I can't come up with skits to do as a whole group or I miss registration.
What was your best masquerade experience?
My first year in a costume my friends and I did a FFX skit and I got to use Rikku's overdrive of mix and once I turned back around I actually had a pineapple for what she mixed together and everyone thought it was a riot.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
No...
Tell us a little about yourself
Let's see....I am in high school, I go to a magnet school where my major is instrumental music. I play the flute, piccolo, and fife. In my free time, when I'm not waiting for a convention that I can actually get to, I re-enact the American Civil War (War of Northern Aggression) where I am a girl undercover as a guy named William. I love to act and dress up in costumes to be someone I'm not. I dance, sing and act in musicals at school and with my acting company Tony's Troubadors.
