What got you into cosplay?
My friends really, but since I also love to sew costumes in general, this was the perfect outlet for that. And because I wanted quidditch robes. >_>
What was your first costume and why?
Gryffindor quidditch robes for the OotP midnight release but my first anime cosplay (and actually the only anime I've ever done XD) was Haku from Spirted Away and Hisoka from Yami no Matsuei, both at Otakon 2004. Ever since, it's been jrock cosplays.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Macabre Tour Shinya - Dir en grey - I put so much effort into this costume and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Lots of people recognized it too. I like it so much, I wore it a second time.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
~Macabre Shinya - Dir en grey - note, not macabre tour, i've already done that one :P. i *love* this outfit sooo much. and the pants are awesome, with the side lacing. this would definatly be a make-over-the-course-of-the-summer costume. it wouldnt be extremley difficult, but tedious and expensive. Plus I'd have to order almost all of the fabric from offline. And then there's the fact that the shirt is stretch material.
~Satsuki from Rentrer en Soi - anything he wears really, but i really like the outfit in Sincerely. I may do this for Otakon this year. I don't know. We'll see.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Going out in public. In particular, during Otakon 2005 wearing my Macabre Tour Shinya and with my friends who were also weraing Diru. Getting all these stares from people in the Inner Harbour was the best. But by far, my favorite experience was in the bathrooms in Harbor Place. We were in there fixing out makeup and stuff and everyone else kept asking us about what was going on and stuff. A bunch of old ladies started talking to us and they really liked our costumes. And then a bunch of little girls did too. They were really shy and were trying to get someone to talk to us. And then they just started picking up and touching my 'tail' part trying to figure out what it was, lol. And as we were leaving a girl walked by us asking who were were, so we answered (thinking she was from the convention or at least had an idea what was going on, but obviously she didnt) 'we're from a band' meaning to say more afterwards but then she's like 'omg, can i join! i'm dead serious'. lol, she actually thought we were in a real band.
