What got you into cosplay?
I spent some time, as a kid, in Japan and was exposed to cosplay. Being a fan of anime and manga, as well as a good designer, it just makes sense. I'm also friends with many good designers and artists, who cosplay.
What was your first costume and why?
Shin Kazama (Area 88) - Area 88 was a series I enjoyed a lot, since it added action, drama, military aircraft and had one nude scene! Sadly, I cared more about the aircraft.
What is your favorite costume and why?
...nothing yet. They were just throw-together costumes, for fun.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
So many ideas, but too many responsibilities keeping me grounded. Time permitting, I'd love to show off my prop-making skills. I love high-density polystyrene!
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Larry Drews threatening to strip our group award, and banned my group from cons, to impress an under-aged girl who wanted the award. This was overruled by the judge who awarded us and the con chairs, and Larry Drews hasn't done much con-work since.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Only to support other cosplayers, or for laughs. Sadly, I have too little time to devote to professional quality design. I'm hoping to get back into cosplaying in 2008.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Having Larry Drews' steal a group award of ours, to impress an under-aged girl months after the con, only to have the ruling immediately overturned by the judges and con chairs and have him stripped of his duties. I'm fueled by sweet retribution.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Supporting member of a group that won an award.
Tell us a little about yourself
Height: 6'6½” Weight: 220lbs. ~ 250lbs. (can cut to 205 without a big performance hit, or as low as 185 with some difficulty) Hair / Eyes: Black / Black Dominant Hand: Right , but trained to fight Southpaw. Blood type: Unknown Race: Japanese (+ a dash of Ainu) / German (+ a hint of Irish) I do mostly marketing, design, IT and customer magic.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I enjoy the outdoors - camping, hiking, bike riding, primitive living, wilderness survival and animal spotting. I do sustenance hunting and trapping, but no hunting for sport. I enjoy fighting arts, including Muay Thai / Lerdit Kicboxing, Brazillian Jiu Jitsu / Catch Wrestling, Judo, Sambo and Kyokushin Karate. I'm a fan of Mixed Martial Arts (UFC, KOTC, WEC, IFL etc.), and dabble in it. I volunteer a lot of effort into various child-protection and animal charities. I also enjoy video game and character design (though I've been out of the industry for a few years). I just recently adopted a British Longair cat that I play with for hours at a time. I've recently been helping my close cosplaying friends, renewing my interest in cosplay and conventions.
