About Me / Q&A

What got you into cosplay?
I wanted to become my favorite characters, and live another life--which is all good. So long as I don't REALLY turn into Lina Inverse. That would be scary. Plus, I find sewing incredibly relaxing, and I'm rather good at reverse engineering designs.
What was your first costume and why?
Deedlit from Record of Lodoss War. It was one of the first anime series I'd ever watched, and I've always been told I come across as a somewhat elven person. Most of my friends have my ringtone as Kaze no Fantasia (Fantasia of the Wind).
What is your favorite costume and why?
My Arwen chase dress from Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. (It's the one she wears when riding Glorfindel with Frodo, trying to escape the Ringwraiths.) It's SO SOFT and comfortable to wear. No zippers, closures, nothing. It's also my most professional work to date.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I want to make the Aquarius Cloth from Saint Seiya, so that I can cosplay Camus and Degel. However...it's more than a little daunting, because of my previous failure with armormaking. I can't figure out how to close the darn things and make them stay on/shut/in place! I also want to make Degel's masquerade costume.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
At A-Kon 22, I went around as Lina Inverse with Galvayra. To the best of my knowledge, no one else has made Galvayra, and while I was getting my glowing weapon checked, I stopped traffic on the SkyWay because so many photographers were taking my picture. It was a nice stroke for my ego.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Sadly, no. I usually lack the time.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
I have! I was thrilled to take 2nd place in the Fantasy Division at All-Con 2012 with my Arwen costume. I also won Best Creativity at AnimeFest 2012 with my Lina Inverse costume.
Tell us a little about yourself
I love my job, frankly. :P I've graduated from school and now live in Texas, where I perform with various local symphonies as a side job and indulge my crafting hobbies. I do a little of everything--paint, sculpt, sew, etc. I also enjoy spinning poi, Sudoku, and writing Saint Seiya fanfiction.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I have started a cosplay podcast called CosPod, along with TifaIA. You can find us in several places: Website http://www.cospod.org DeviantArt http://cospod.deviantart.com Twitter @cospodcast Facebook www.facebook.com/cosplaypodcast
