What got you into cosplay?
I heard about a local anime convention and saw online that many people made costumes to wear to these events. It looked like fun, so I decided I wanted to go in costume as well!
What was your first costume and why?
Meiling Li, because I liked the character, it gave me an excuse to take pictures with any Syaorans I saw, and since I'm also of Chinese descent I thought it would be easier to pull off.
What is your favorite costume and why?
At this point probably Nodame, simply because I adore the character and I have a lot of fun with it. I also spent a lot of time on the Gorota and Kazuo puppets and I like all the accessories that I have for her (piano bag, lunch box, pianika, etc)
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Nodame's "Scarlett O'hara" dress!
... I kid, I kid. I don't really have a dream costume (though I really would love to make the above anyway!)
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Gogo was a lot more recognizable and well-received than I expected at Anime Evolution '04. I mean really, how often do you have people asking you to "smile like you're about to castrate someone"? I only wish I had been able to imitate her expressions more.
