Arlette

I have been doing anime costumes since 1999, and sci-fi/comic costumes before that. My husband and I have been cosplaying together since 2002, and I make his costumes as well as my own.

I've been going by the name Arlette on all the cosplay sites since 2005, but I went by HealerKou from 1999 - 2005. I switched because I actually grew out of the old handle, just the way I now seem to be growing out of cosplay!

With that said, I pretty much plan to cease all anime cosplay as of 2009. Which means 2008 is going to be epic!

What got you into cosplay?
I've always enjoyed dressing up in costumes. Halloween is awesome.
What was your first costume and why?
Anime? Tot from Weiß Kreuz. But the first costume I made myself was human version Demona from Gargoyles. I was 14.
What is your favorite costume and why?
It varies.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Sailor Starhealer from Sailormoon Stars, since she was my namesake for a long time.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
When my husband surprised me by dressing up as my favorite anime guy, back when we first started dating.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Sometimes.
What was your best masquerade experience?
"To Catch a Predator" at AnimeUSA 2007 and the "Tentacle Hentai Skit" at Katsucon 2008.

Yep.
