My name is Amber. I am an attention Whore

What got you into cosplay?
My friend, Ashley, started it. She had been researching it for a while and, being as creative as she is, she wanted to try it. My brothers got into it and I didn't want to be left out. So, I tried it. And now, I'm an attention whore. I love the attention I get from fellow cosplayers.
What was your first costume and why?
My first costume was Sana-chan from Kodomo no Omocha. I liked her. Kodocha was the first anime series I had ever really fallen in love with. I was in love with Sana. But since she wore such ordinary clothes, few recognized that I was cosplaying. Ha!
What is your favorite costume and why?
My favorite costume, so far, would definitely be songstress Yuna with the gunner Yuna boots. I love the feel of this costume and when I dance, the skirt swishes. I like the gunner Yuna boots because they are more comfortable than the homemade songstress Yuna boots. I also love this costume because it was the hardest I ever worked on a costume and I feel really pretty when I wear it.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Oh, I dunno. Something scandelous I suppose. I've got a pretty nice figure (i think), I just don't have the guts. I'd love to do Rikku with the proper hair but I can't see myself as a blonde. Otherwise, I'd like to do something really girly! Like with puffy skirts and the like.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Hmm...probably when I actually did the stage cosplay. Last year (2004), I went to AnimeIowa with my friend and my brother. I was Songstress Yuna and my brother was Brother (FFX-2). We had to paint him. It took at least 1-2 hrs to do the first paint job. Then, it took longer to do touch-ups (weird, huh?). Okay, but we had a skit in which I (Yuna) was singing 1000 Words and Justin (Brother) was miming in the background and generally bugging the heck outta me. There was a point in the skit where I was supposed to hit him and when he fell to the ground, there was this HUGE thud. I thought I had hurt him and the audience gasped really loud. So, I was mentally freaking out and he just kinda lays there and winks at me before standing up and finishing the skit. But I swear, when he fell, my heart literally stopped beating. I was so afraid I'd actually hurt him.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Not so much. I've only done it once. I'll probably do more with my friend, but just to help her out. I have terrible stage fright.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Probably during the FFX-2 skit and we walked out and the crowd went wild! It was so exhilirating that I was shaking.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Nope, but that's okay. My costumes are never that complicated. I just do easy, popular, cute ones for the attention
Tell us a little about yourself
I am currently attending Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. I have 2 older brothers, a mom, a dad, a stepmom, and a grandma. I have a best friend, Ashley who I thank for introducing me to anime and cosplay in general. I have hobbies like drawing and I am obsessed with music.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Go see Ashley's (Shine-chan) pics! They are really wow.
My favorite anime
Fruit's Basket, Kaze Hikaru, Tail of the Moon, Beauty Pop, La Corda d'Oro, Macross Frontier, Samurai Champloo, Yakitate! Japan, and more but those are the main ones right now.
My favorite game(s)
I absolutely love FFX-2 because the girls aren't wimpy. I also like FF9. AND Katamari Damacy and DDR. I also love Nintendo and Super Nintendo and N64. Mario and Kirby and stuff like that.
My favorite book(s)
Circle of Magic, The Goose Girl, Ella Enchanted. I like fantasy or re-imagined fairy tales.
My favorite character(s)
Right now? I'm not totally in love with anyone, but I'd love to do a Yuki (Vampire Knight) costume, or Gum from JSRF. I really love the strong female lead. Strong, but not a b*tch
My favorite movies(s)
A Knight's Tale, Bend It Like Beckham, Under the Tuscan Sun, Howl's Moving Castle, Mulan, Digimon: The Movie, Spirited Away
