What got you into cosplay?
^^ I've always loved dressing up, and since my mom Taught me some of the basics we started putting our efforts to actually making outfits....(or I would bargain with her to help me make something ) for the Ren Fair. I always made really terrible outfits, but I still loved dressing up in them. Well somehow after a Ren Fair I ended up at a book shop and not only did I learn about anime but cosplay as well. That night I found out conventions, found on in my area that was going on soon and begged my mom to help me make a the costume of an orrigial character of mine and let me go for a day. We all went and it was a total blast! I've been doing cosplay costumes since then. I've actually only finished three costumes since 2005 but that was because of school/work/money problems.
What was your first costume and why?
Tyka Pucaet (sister of my master Role play villain guy....... death by teacup ....spelled backwards.....Pucaet yb Htaed or H'taed yb Pucaet.....don't ask, the story was to long to remember) ^^ I only was going for one day and I had my sights set on my own character (X.X nobody knew who I was but everyone wanted my picture) The costume was terribly hot though because it was a VERY well made jacket. I still have pictures floating around......
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
My current dream costume is to perfect my Twaki costume. Twaki seems to be one of the side main characters to the Undertow comic. Which was actually the first comic I’d ever read.
Twaki is the first of Several dream costumes actually. I’m fairly sure I can’t pick only one.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Getting out of the car at my first convention and seeing a Vash the Stampede at the wheel. An Elf (looked like something from an online game) in the passenger seat, a Stormtrooper in the backseat was a giant dog (I am now to believe that it was the dog from Naruto...the one that pees on everyone?) it was... with a guy in a Sailormoon outfit. .......... very memorable. In fact, it is now about the only thing I remember from my first con.......except for the large girl in the thong when I went to tie my shoe.............*shiver*.(that was just not what I wanted to see looking up from my shoe, no offense or anything. XD)
Do you participate in masquerades?
nope, although one day I would like to, I'd like to be a little more confident about myself.... but I'm very shy and have horrible stage fright so I still may never do it. (I was made to do a speech at my graduation.... I just about passed out. ^^ thank god for my strong will and the stand thing to hold on to XP hahaha......it's on camera, you can tell I started blacking out.)
Tell us a little about yourself
I graduated from high school and did community college for a while then spent a year traveling. I want to major in English and Illustration when I get enough money to go back to school. I occasionally do fencing (sword fighting ^_~)
I’m no longer with my now ex fiancé and I’m back to living with my parents. I’m writing my own book and every year I can be found at Fanime Con in the Artist Alley. I have three pairs of shoes currently- pair of sandals, pair of work shoes, pair of high heels(recent). XD I wear the high heels all the time, SO comfortable.
I work as a cosmetics consultant currently at a local business, and although I don’t LOVE my job I do get a lot of free products that I am hoping help with cosplay. Any good cosplayer knows that a little make-up can go a LONG way for a photo shoot.
I generally hang around on the internet, play video games, draw, sew costumes, and write on my time off. I plan on getting my book published sometime next year so I’m working really heard to finish it and make sure that it’s a good story. I don’t care how many times I have to scrap it and start again I WILL do this. ^^ And then I will make a comic series off of it and cosplay my own characters while selling my books at fanime. Yes, I think I’m that awesome and I think I will succeed.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Well I’ve settled down over the years but I still get hyper and silly and I make terrible but hilarious jokes constantly. I’ve also got a weird quirk- I collect cosplay pictures like a mad woman. XD I also love people saying hi. Please feel free to drop by my table and say hello at fanime. I’d be tickled pink. (I always have a sign saying “Crystori” or “3 Muse Studio” somewhere.)
