About Me / Q&A

What got you into cosplay?
Well, I've been attending conventions since Otakon 2002, and I have dressed up in costume since then, but I had never cosplayed in anything that I had made 100% by myself until Otakon 2008, when I debuted my first "legit" cosplay, Selphie from Final Fantasy VIII. I've always loved playing dress-up, especially as a child, and Halloween has been one of my favorite holidays, so when I discovered the whole cosplay subculture at anime conventions I knew right away that I wanted to be a part of it. I really loved seeing everyone in costume, and I couldn't wait to cosplay myself. However, I have this irritating habit of starting projects and never finishing them... So it took me six years to actually finish my first costume. ^_^;
What was your first costume and why?
Selphie Tilmitt, from Final Fantasy VIII, because her costume didn't seem too difficult, and because I've been told that I'm a lot like her personality-wise. And because I just adore her!
What is your favorite costume and why?
My favorite costume would have to be Selphie, from Final Fantasy VIII. It was the very first costume I had made all by myself (and my first big sewing project!), and I've always been very proud of it. That, and cosplaying Selphie is soooo much fun! I think that we're a lot alike, so it's very easy to get into character. :) Unfortunately, I really need to remake this costume because it was not made very well and is starting to show it's age... but I ADORE cosplaying Selphie and wouldn't dream of retiring her! So keep an eye out for Selphie 2.0!! :D
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
OMG. I thought you'd never ask. FROG. from CHRONO TRIGGER. Chrono Trigger is my favorite game ever, and my dream costume is totally Frog -- I'd make the costume, armor, a frog mask, Masamune --everything!! I really, really can't wait to make this costume, but I'm a total novice at this and I just know I'm nowhere close to being able to do him justice right now. So I'll just have to get some more practice making other costumes before I attempt him.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Most memorable experience would have to be when I was cosplaying for the first time ever, as Selphie. I had so much fun cosplaying her at Otakon 2008, and meeting all the other Final Fantasy cosplayers (especially the other Final Fantasy VIII cosplayers) was really awesome. Everyone was so friendly and fun to be around, and I had a SWEET time! ALSO, hitting up the hotel bar at Katsucon '09 for drinks as Turks from FFVII... <3
Do you participate in masquerades?
I haven't yet, but I would really love to sometime! ...Please ask me to be part of your masquerade group!! *_*
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Nope, haven't been in any competitions or contests yet.
Tell us a little about yourself
I like anime, but I am mostly a gamer, so many (if not all) of the characters that I cosplay are from videogames.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I'm very friendly and love love LOVE to cosplay in a group! If you are ever in need of a character that I cosplay for your group or gathering, never hesitate to ask me. I love to meet new people and would hardly turn down an opportunity to get some awesome photos and show love for my favorite series! ^_^ Please, please ask ESPECIALLY if you need someone for a group cosplaying from Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Shadow Hearts, Seiken Densetsu 3, Legend of Mana, Final Fantasy V, Final Fantasy VI, or Final Fantasy Tactics! Those are some of my favorite games and if I don't have a costume already made for a character you need, I could probably make one! (I'd just be so excited that anyone was even cosplaying from those series!) Conventions that I usually attend are Otakon, Katsucon, and AnimeUSA, but I have attended T-Mode, MAGFest, and Anime Mid Atlantic in the past. (I will be attending Dragon*Con for the first time this year!)
