What got you into cosplay?
My mother actually made a Sailor Jupiter outfit for me for Halloween when I was a youngling, though at the time I had no idea what cosplay was or even that my favorite shows like Sailor Moon and Speed Racer were originally from Japan. I was later formally introduced to such things through my school friends.
What was your first costume and why?
My first real costumes were of my own characters, such as a fairy named Zuleika Iola and a vampire named Erica. I was such a dorky little twerp, with horrible character design sense!
What is your favorite costume and why?
To date my favorite costume is probably bloody Rena, if only for the oodles of fun it is to pose with my bloody Shion, figwiggin. I have a special place in my heart for my early cosplays, though, and always will.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
My current obsession is to do an impeccable Medicine Seller from Mononoke, though more directly I aspire to make beautiful wings.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Probably getting mobbed for pictures for the first time, in my beaten-up Blossom (yes, Blossom from the PowerPuff Girls, and not that new version, either. I had a Buttercup and Bubbles, as well) costume, and feeling the rush of pride and the enjoyment from posing and being the center of attention for a small moment.
Do you participate in masquerades?
No, but I'd like to, if only for the fun of putting on a skit.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
My cheap original character cosplay won the Best Costume award in my high school drama class one Halloween! Such a highlight of my life!
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm currently a student (and will remain one foreverrrrrr *writhe*) working towards a degree in English, though what the hell that's going to be used for has yet to be nailed down. I also aspire (in that chuckling sense) to one day own a bakery/tattoo shop. And no, not one or the other, I mean both in one.
