What got you into cosplay?
My friend invited me to a con with her, and she said she was going to cosplay, so I decided to do it, too. I had already taken a sewing class at school and really liked it, and once I found out I had a bit of an aptitude for throwing pieces of cloth together and coming out with something that worked I was hooked.
What was your first costume and why?
Asuka from Evangelion. Eva was one of my first anime series, and at the time Asuka was one of my favorite anime characters. Plus, I have red hair (although it didn't actually look like her style at the time... yeah, I was a noob), and really wanted some plug clips to wear around. (Too bad they ended up breaking... right when I put them on for the con! I was able to do an emergency fix, but they were never quite the same after.)
What is your favorite costume and why?
Probably Mikuru from MoHS. I don't actually like the character that much but it makes me feel adorable and having a full group was a ton of fun.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I really want to make Shion's uniform from Xenosaga episode I. :X It would be really hard, but I enjoy challenges. And I could wear my glasses. And carry around a giant prop.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Meeting Luci Christian when we were dressed as Princess Tutu characters and her fangirling all over us. X)
Do you participate in masquerades?
Only once, although I'd like to do more.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Well, it would have to be that one, wouldn't it? :3 Some friends and I did a dance skit with Princess Tutu at Otakon '07 and won a judge's award; my favorite part was probably meeting random cool people backstage and during rehearsal.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm an 18 year old college freshman going into Biology. I miss my dressform very much, it's at home due to me living in the dorms and not having room for it, but at least I have a sewing machine here. In my spare time I get inappropriately happy over science puns, write and draw, play DDR, study languages, corrupt my younger sister, and drink way too much tea.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I... don't have pictures of a few of my earlier costumes up here, mainly because I don't like any of the pictures I have. ^_^;; Asuka (Eva), Kagura (Furuba) and Rue (PT) are all missing from my gallery. I might drag out the first two and take some pictures soon, since I've learned how to straighten my hair since first wearing the costumes and might actually get some decent pictures out of them, since the costumes themselves aren't horrible.
