What was your first costume and why?
Aeris Gainsborough from FFVII, because she's wonderful and I needed something that I could build primarily off of patterns.
What is your favorite costume and why?
At this point, probably my Luna Lovegood movie costume. There are very few things I'm disappointed by in that costume. I'm really pleased with how it turned out, overall, and I've gotten tons of compliments on it. It's mostly normal clothes, so it's easy to wear (though the wig is a bit of a beast and it was very warm working an outdoor book release festival in July...).
Aeris remains near and dear to my heart, though. She was my first and, after many revisions, remains one of my best as far as accuracy and craftsmanship--it's a simple concept, but a lot of detail can go into it. She won't be a Saturday at-con costume anymore, but I may bust her out for an easy Friday/Sunday or photoshoot now and then. :E
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Padme's huge purple-ish senate dress from Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. Terrible movie; awesome costumes. :x
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Elder folks with huge smiles on their faces asking to take pictures of me in my WWII USO dancer costume from the Captain America movie!
Do you participate in masquerades?
I've been in... four...? skits and done a walk-on, so yes, I suppose I do.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Getting beaten over the head with Pocky boxes as Aeris at ACen2k2. It was my first time on stage, and the laughs we got were wonderful. ^^
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Troppy, Ashirichan, and I won Best in Show for our costumes and skit at a start-up con at the University of Wisconsin called Geek.kon in 2007.
Tell us a little about yourself
I have a career in healthcare; I dance ParaPara, and play DDR, and stuff. Uhh... yeah.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I wouldn't have ever started sewing seriously or making props if my mom hadn't had a sewing machine she was willing to let me commandeer and my dad didn't have tons of tools, materials, and a really creative mechanical mind!
