What got you into cosplay?
My online friends always used to talk about these awesome cosplayers at cons like AnimeExpo and Otakon. I decided that I wanted to try to cosplay like them: to express my creativity and love of a character. I also thought it would be fun to pretend to be someone else for a little while.
What was your first costume and why?
My first costume was Yoko Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho. It didn't come out that great, but I loved it ^^ I thought it would be fairly simple to make compared to all the other ideas I had in mind, and I just love Yoko <3
What is your favorite costume and why?
Mikami!!! Because he's bad ass and his costume is comfortable, even if it was all store bought ^^;;
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I would LOVE to cosplay Sakura's princess outfit from Tsubasa (everything by CLAMP is beautiful!), Cloud Strife from Kingdom Hearts, Ingus from Final Fantasy III DS, Howl (blonde) from Howl's Moving Castle, and WAY too many others to name. Sadly, I lack the skill necessary to make them right now....
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
When I got glomped for the first time by two girls at Anime Boston 2006 (my first con). That and the Final Fantasy photoshoot in 2007 - wicked awesome AND it was the first time I had ever been in a photoshoot!
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm an alumni from Bristol-Plymouth Technical High School, and Computer Aided Drafting was my major. I work at DePuy Spine, part of Johnson & Johnson, full-time (thanks to the co-op program at my high school), which is really great and funds all of my obsessions ^^ I dream about graduating from college, getting a boyfriend, and one day finding my one true talent/passion. I love to play video games, hang around with my friends, collect anime stuff, and sew/cosplay (the most recent of my hobbies). I'm only a newbie cosplayer, but I'm looking forward to being able to improve my skills as I continue to learn the art of cosplaying.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I originally put here that I would be pursuing Graphic Design as my major. To be honest, I don't really know what I want to do....maybe something involving Communications and Multimedia...? Either way, I now officially plan on finishing out my Graphic Design associate's degree, and then pursuing my bachelor's. I'll figure out what I really want to do later :P
