Spookloops
What got you into cosplay?
A sudden invite to Animazement '04. I knew to really enjoy my first con, I should cosplay... I haven't stopped since...
What was your first costume and why?
Count D from Petshop. Love the character, love the manga. That's all the reason I need!
What is your favorite costume and why?
My favourite so far... Hard to say. Since I started doing more silly costumes, I've been having more fun, though I'm still a pretty fabric whore. For the lulz, King of All Cosmos. For the serious, Sadako because I made a Princess Zelda cry, telling me it was win. For the pretty, Himiko. I'd say Bird of Paradise, but I don't think it's good enough anymore.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I'd like to revisit Count D now that I've learned a thing or two about sewing. I'd like to try more advanced technical sewing now that I've survived a full ball gown.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Metrocon: Amano's World, being a Roving Cosplay Medic. I'm very introverted, but I'm also very altruistic, so having such an opportunity to help people out when they have wardrobe malfunction was also a good way for me to break the ice. I remember being stuck somewhere and have some issue arise and wonder "if only someone could come save me!" - Well, I wanted to be that person for other people. This really enhanced my con experience, and I really enjoy trying to figure out how to fix various problems, so I'll continue to be the Cosplay Medic. It's a very fullfilling role in the Cosplay World.
Winning my first award, as Bird of Paradise from PoH, was pretty darn memorable too! :)
Do you participate in masquerades?
Yep! (wow, a non verbose answer for once!!)
What was your best masquerade experience?
That feeling of the world stopping for an instant when I heard my name announced and people started cheering for me at Megacon 2007. On the same note, that was also the most terrifying experience ever for an introvert like me... but I'm a glutton for punishment, so I'll do it again!
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
So far I've won Honorable Mention for Bird twice, though I did get a lot of appreciation as a Cosplay Medic. The King received a ribbon for Honorable Mention in hall cosplay as I was walking around. Celes got a "Good Luck On Your Wedding" award, which was really sweet of the judges to give. Haven't truly "placed" in anything yet though.
Tell us a little about yourself
I have a normal "day job". I love to cook, read, draw/paint, play bass, and listen to music. I adore my cat, who has been with me for 10 years now. I like the challenge of cosplaying and appreciate that it forces one to think outside of the box sometimes when it comes to building these things.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Uhm.... go to my website!! *shameless plug* Go to www.angelfire.com/pop/rhoxx! If enough ppl visit, I'll go ad-free!! There's a forum there and we would love to have you!
