What got you into cosplay?
I've just always loved dressing up. Sailor Moon was my favorite and when I was little I wanted to dress up as Sailor Chibi Moon and go to an anime convention! I just thought that would be the coolest thing ever.
Many years later that finally happened and I've been hooked ever since!
What was your first costume and why?
Well, I like to think I have three first costumes. There's my first cosplay I ever wore to an anime convention, Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist. It was made by a family friend.
Then there's the first costume that I actually made, Christine Daae (dressing gown) from Phantom of the Opera. It was the first thing I ever sewed, so of course it was a disaster.
Then there's my first cosplay that didn't suck. Sailor Chibi Moon from Sailor Moon, it was commissioned from Setsuna Kou.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Oh, do I have to choose?
A few years ago I would of said Sailor Chibi Moon in a heartbeat, but now I think I've grown a little bored with her. After a well deserved break, I think I'll have more fun with her.
Now it's a toss up. I really liked Kiki because she's one of my favorite characters (and I love my broom and Jiji!). I really hold Kiki close to my heart, she's a part of my childhood!
Judge Claude Frollo and Princess Anneliese I believe are my two best costumes. I spent the most time on them and I think they turned out quite well!
...and finally, Chihiro! Another miyazaki favorite. The costume is so simple and comfy, I can use my real hair! I like this one for when I'm being lazy - it's the most comfortable costume ever!
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Most definatly! I have tons of dream costumes, but for the most part I have two. Midna's true form from Zelda: Twilight Princess and Theresa from Fable. Someday, they will both happen!! Maybe even sooner than you know ;)
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
The first thing that always comes to mind is so simple, yet it still cracks me up! I was in my Princess Anneliese cosplay just hanging around when a man crossplaying as Kagome from InuYasha walked by. He paused, looked at me and asked "Are you a Princess?" After my reply of yes, he says "What a coincidence! I'm a queen!" XD
It made my day.
Do you participate in masquerades?
I've participated twice.
The first time I was extremely nervous and scared. The second wasn't so bad, especially since I was with a group of friends.
For the most part, I don't participate. I'm not all that competitive and honestly just find it to be more trouble than it's worth.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Neither of my experiences were "good". They weren't necessarily bad, I just didn't enjoy them too much.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
