What got you into cosplay?
I decided to go in costume to my first Otakon back in 2000 because I saw a lot of pictures on the internet of people dressing up and thought it would be fun. ^_~ I've also been making Halloween costumes since I was a child and cosplaying at conventions seemed like a natural progression.
What was your first costume and why?
My first costume was of Chichiri from Fushigi Yuugi. I decided to go as him because he was my favorite character from that show and I'd almost finished watching the TV series when I made the costume.
What is your favorite costume and why?
My favorite costume is my Treize Kushrenada costume I made for Otakon 2002. It's my favorite because it's pretty accurate to the character designs and the coat, which started as a bellhop's uniform, was a real bargain when I found it at a thrift shop.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I would really love to cosplay as Vash the Stampede from Trigun. I know that many people cosplay as him, but I want to make my own coat and the body suit, gloves, and wig to go along with it. I'd also love to make an Applejack costume from "My Little Pony."
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
My most memorable cosplay experience has to be when I dressed as Alphonse Elric from FullMetal Alchemist and was in the official Funimation cosplay contest in 2004. My costume didn't win, but a picture of it is up on the official FMA site.
Do you participate in masquerades?
I've only participated in one masquerade, back when I first started going to conventions in 2000. Since then, I haven't participated.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
I have not won any awards for my costumes, but I hope to someday.
Tell us a little about yourself
I have graduated college with two Associates Degrees in Fine Arts and Graphic Design. My hobbies include making costumes, playing video games, drawing, reading, playing Warhammer Fantasy and 40k, painting miniatures, playing D&D, watching anime, learning more about history, especially ancient Egypt, traveling to interesting places, going to conventions, and having fun with my friends. I'm also engaged to be married to my boyfriend of 3 years sometime soon. ^_~
