What got you into cosplay?
I've always loved costumes, and I have quite a few favorite characters, so what could be better than dressing in the costume of one of your favorite characters?
What was your first costume and why?
My mom made me an Ariel costume from Disney's The Little Mermaid. Like many little girls from my generation, I was absolutely obsessed with that movie.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Probably my stormtrooper armor, but Riza is a close second. I love my stormtrooper armor because everyone assumes I'm male when I'm wearing it, and it's amazing how differently people treat you when they think you're a guy. Also, it gets the most amazing reactions every time I wear it. ^_^
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Oh dear...I have many costumes I want to make, but Time and Money are standing in my way. Right now I'd say it would have to be the pink power ranger from the first U.S. butchering of a sentai series. Sigh.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
The first time I wore my stormtrooper armor on my college campus I got snagged by a grad student who wanted to show me to a die-hard Star Wars fan he taught in the university's special needs school. When he pulled the nine-year-old boy out of class he asked him if he knew what I was, and the kid responded: "Yeah, it's a stormtrooper. A FAKE stormtrooper."
Do you participate in masquerades?
Just one so far. I was in the Fullmetal Alchemist skit at Anime USA '06 as non-flashback Riza Hawkeye. There's a video of it on YouTube if you're really curious.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Listening to Azriell giggle is something I'm never going to forget.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
No.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm an English and Theatre Production double major in my fourth year of college. My hobbies include napping, procrastinating, mourning my cat, laughing at random things around me, scaring people in public, reading science stuff....
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
It really is impossible to see anything out of those stormtrooper helmets.
