What got you into cosplay?
I've always loved wearing costumes in Carnival, school plays, etc... and I've always loved anime. The first time I attended a con (so long ago) there were a few people in costumes, although there wasn't an official cosplay contest and nobody knew what cosplay was; and I felt so jealous that I decided I'd never ever attend a con without wearing my own costumes. When I finally gave it a try, I had so much fun and my costume was so successful, that I became a total cosplay addict ^_^
What was your first costume and why?
Lina Inverse!! It was the first costume I wore at a convention, I spent the whole summer working on it, and Slayers was my favorite anime so I really put a lot of enthusiasm, hard work and happiness into this costume. I wanted it to be perfect, and it was really worth the effort, because it was a big success at the con ^_^
What is your favorite costume and why?
Lina Inverse again... It's still my dearest costume, I'm so proud of it and it brings me so many good memories ^_^ Though it was the first one and my sewing skills weren't perfect, the results were wonderful and I really did become my favorite character for one day, which is, in my opinion, the main point of cosplaying!!!
I'm also very proud of my Riza Hawkeye costume, I put all my soul in every detail and I still add or improve new details every time I wear it ^_^
And finally, my most elaborate costume, Hinoto from X... I hated it at the beginning, because the wig was so horrible it killed the whole costume v.v but after a few years I could buy a better wig and had some new pictures taken, I really love them now...
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I have so many... it's really hard to choose... maybe Killburn from Dragon Quest...
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
The first time I cosplayed (Lina Inverse, at Salón del Manga 1999) was definitely the happiest and funniest day in my life. I'll never forget it!! Of course it was also great when my sister and I won our first award at Expocomic 2000 with our Team Rocket costumes ^__^
Do you participate in masquerades?
Sure!!!
What was your best masquerade experience?
Maybe the Tokyo Babylon skit we did at Expo Japan 2000... our performance was cool... even if we didn't win an award, we made people laugh, we got a big applause and we heard a lot of "congratulations! you should have won!" and "have you ever thought of becoming a voice actress?" *^_^* That was the best reward!!!!!
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
-First Place at the Art School Carnival Party and Third Place at Expocomic 2000, both with our Team Rocket costumes
-First Place at Expomanga 2006 for my Record of Lodoss War group
-Best Group at Salón del Manga 2007 for our Keroro Gunso group
Also an award at Hogwarts Online's Halloween Contest for my Hermione Granger costume and a special award given by the Spanish Cosplay Mailing List at Salón del Manga 2002 for Hinoto
Tell us a little about yourself
I've finished the Illustration career at the Art School, and I'm currently studying Archaeology at the university. I live with my sister and my mother who are also cosplayers (my brother is the black sheep *LOL*). Cosplay is probably my dearest hobby and passion, along with singing and reading. I love manga, anime, heroic fantasy, drawing, martial arts and voice acting.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I have to use this space to talk about my sister Nokoru: she's one of my best friends and, above all, my cosplay partner, so you'll probably see us together in many photos. We've cosplayed as duos like Team Rocket, Lina and Xelloss, Amidala and Anakin, Leona and Dai (Fly), Hokuto and Subaru, Penelope Pitstop and Dick Dastardly, Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask, Hinoto and Kamui, Hermione and Harry, Sai and Hikaru, etc...
