HeeHee
I'm just a little sickly funkle.
What got you into cosplay?
Watching old school anime like Pokemon and Dragonball Z got me into watching Tech TV, and from there I got to see cosplayers in action! From then on, I was hooked to the idea.
What was your first costume and why?
I was cosplaying in Jr. High around Halloween, although at the time I didn't know cosplay existed! So to be technically accurate, my first anime/video game/comic -genre costume was Kojirou [James] from Pokemon.
However the first cosplay I wore to a convention was Warrior Paine from FFX-2. Most of my ideas come from pairs of characters that I can do with my twin sister, Hope. After playing (only a bit) of FFX-2, I thought Paine was awesome, and when I was presented with the question of who to cosplay as, I chose her and Hope chose Rikku.
What is your favorite costume and why?
The fabulous Beck Gold. Not only is he tacky and insane, but come on-- he's got style! And sexy hair to boot! I really enjoy being characters with flamboyant or eccentric personalities (Cowboy Andy is another great example).
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I have two, actually! Full Throttle Paine from FFX-2 and Samus Aran w/o helmet from Metroid.
I'm pretty sure Samus will come out first, and I'm going to go all out on it, so I'm sure it'll take QUITE some time. n_n I'm willing to put in the effort, though, just for her sheer awesomeness.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Well, at Onicon the afro-GOD Wantanbe asked our Cowboy Bebop group to take a picture with him! Well, he asked through his interpreter. =3 We almost wet our britches, I tell you what. Unfortunatley our camera was dead, but hopefully we'll run into that photo one day.
I'm very friendly, so please-- if you wanna say hello, say it! =D
Do you participate in masquerades?
For my first contest, I was kind of rushed off to the emergency room before I could go on to do my skit--- oooi!
But since then I've entered contests and managed to stay alive the entire time!
What was your best masquerade experience?
I would say our Anime Matsuri II experience was my favorite so far. We presented my favorite skit to date, "Wandblades, Wings, and Big Zipper... Things"-- a Kingdom Hearts/ Fairly Oddparents crossover. It was so much fun putting everything together, and actually performing was even better!
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Judges Award @ Ikkicon '07 for Berserker YRP group.
Judges Award @ AnimeFest '07 for Lazy Town skit.
Best Skit Award @ Onicon '07 for Cowboy Bebop skit.
Best in Show @ Anime Matsuri '08 for Kingdom Wands (Kingdom Hearts/ Fairly OddParents) skit.
Best in Show @ A-kon '08 for The Big O and Evangalion skit.
Tell us a little about yourself
First and foremost, I'm a Christian. I'm currently enrolled in college to become a teacher.
I'm a puppeteer, and have been since I was in sixth grade. While I would LOVE to work for Jim Henson or Nickelodeon with my talent, I have to be realistic. There is a HUGE waiting list just to be an intern at either company. But sometimes puppets make their way into our skits, I just can't resist!
I also write, draw, and... well... COSPLAY!
Fun fun fun!
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I'm a twin, and she's teh cool.
Also-- I've only been cosplaying for about three years, but I've already learned a valuable lesson, so to speak. For those who see cosplay as just a way to gain fame or popularity, or those who do it just to say that you're better than everyone else by winning contests or skit awards; you've missed the point!
Cosplay isn't about how good your costume is, it's about the people you meet through it and the expression of creativity! Conventions are a wonderful way to get in touch with people from a variety of places that share the same interests and passions, and some of my greatest friends are those that I've spent time with or met there -at- conventions! Cosplayers are great people, when their minds are in the right place. So, all you n00bs like me, if you're worried about your cosplay maybe not looking the best or your lack of experience... just chiiiill. ^_^
The more you cosplay, the more you learn and grow! Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was the perfect Cloud or Sailor Moon costume!
