What got you into cosplay?
How did I first get into cosplay....well. That's easy. I remember being a kid and watching the first episodes of Sailor Moon being released. Embarassing as it is now, Sailor Moon was my first acknowledgement of anime, but I was hooked. I even went through the DBZ phase. Around midsummer of that year I got started on a Sailor Moon costume, and by the time halloween rolled around it was done. Or at least I thought it was done. It was more like a tennis skirt and a baggy T-shirt with a bandana. Thank god there's not photographic evidence. But as the years went by I was still watching anime and still cosplaying. Truely the best way to learn more about cosplay is the hours you spend with trial and error trying to get everything juuust right! Certainly builds character.
What was your first costume and why?
Some silly Sailor Moon costume that consisted of a white t-shirt and a tennis skirt. I had the Sailor fever back in 2000.
What is your favorite costume and why?
I'm going to have to say my Princess Mononoke cosplay because of how much work went into making the mask. I really had a great time with it.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Leeloo of the Fifth Element.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
I'd have to say meeting Kevin Sorbo in my B.B. Hood costume at Dragon*Con.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Nooo, too stage fright.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Yes, I won best in show at Simucon for my sandsprite costume.
Tell us a little about yourself
These days I'm a casual nursing student and full time gamer. I very much enjoy the time I get to set aside for cosplaying. Its by far my greatest creative outlet and its highly rewarding to see a costume come to life. I don't get around to many conventions these days. They tend to be pricey and most of my play money gets spent on the materials! Luckily I still get to share my creations via the internet.
