What got you into cosplay?
Man, this is a hard question. It was sooo long ago. *thinks* It was when Mobile Suit Gundam Wing came to Toonami. (1998?) I wanted to dress as Noin so bad, but i had no sewing machine or any skill what so ever with one. The more manga i read and Anime i watched the more i wanted to sew and cosplay as my favorite characters.
What was your first costume and why?
My first costume was Meowth from Pokemon. It was way back in 1999, on Halloween Night. Made the head out of Paper Mache, the whiskers of Wire and fleece and i could see through his smiling mouth. Sadly... I scared all the kids that year. Why? well they've never seen a 5' 5" pokemon before.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Baby Chocobo. The reason being is that it was quite a challenge to make. Still being a noob at sewing, I had never made any child costumes or clothing of any sort. Making the hood and tail was the fun part. Looking at photos of the costume now, im glad it turned out so well :)
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Oh yes, Someday i'd like to make Blood Elf Prince Keal'Thas and his guards in Silvermoon City from the World of Warcraft, or my Death Knight named Khiorii as well :)
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Dressing up as Tifa and Baby Chocobo with my baby girl at Anizona III & SD Comic-Con. As well as Anizona 09 with both my kids. I can tell that they were enjoying it as much as anyone else there ^_^ Not to mention my girl loves looking at everyone else's costumes and would point, say some gibberish, or name the character, look at me and then smile.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Yep, they're alot of fun. Nerve-racking, but fun. ^_^ Preparing ahead of time is always a good thing.
I dont know how long i practiced my first skit. It was about a minute long, but there were so many people in my first one that's all the time there was for each of us. Plus the Judges had NO idea whom I was dressed as (Rei Ayanami from Evangelion)
What was your best masquerade experience?
I've only had a couple experiences in the Masquerade, was really really nervous, and they were only walk-ons. So im looking forward to trying more and actually doing a few skit ideas.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
~ Best Showmanship - CopperCon. - The Judges had not seen Evangelion, nor did they know about the character or Anime, for that matter.. :X
~ Best Craftmanship - Novice -Anizona III (Tifa & Baby Chocobo)
~ Best Craftmanship - Novice & Workmanship AniZona IV - Tsubasa (Fai, Mokonas, & Young Sakura)
Tell us a little about yourself
I have a little girl who's gonna be 3 yrs old, and a new baby boy that'll be 1 year by the time AnimeVegas 09 Arrives. Im married to a Navy man, who loves anime as well.
I <3 anime and cosplaying. Cant imagine my life without it.
