What was your first costume and why?
My first costume was Shampoo from Ranma ½. Ranma was the first anime I watched consistently. I didn’t know anything about cosplay and it was a simple costume to do, I just got some Chinese clothes and put some purple stuff in my hair. It wasn’t a very good costume but I think I looked cute. I got to the con and I saw Sailor Moon (yeah you know the one) she was getting ready in the bathroom and I just thought she looked so beautiful with her gossamer white skirts swirling all around her and covering everything. Its funny b/c I don’t generally cosplay “pretty” costumes, but seeing her struck me and I guess that’s why I chose to cosplay.
What is your favorite costume and why?
That’s a hard one, I usually love a costume just after I make it and then as time goes on I see more of the weakness in it. My most fun costume has probably been bumblebee. Not that it was fun to wear, but I think it made people happy. People would see the costume and would remember being a kid watching transformers and experience a kind of reconnection with that sense of excitement and wonderment.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I love making Mech and Robot costumes, but because their expensive and time consuming I don't get to make very many.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
its so hard to pick one, Carrie bit me once at anime next during a stage kiss, and I had to keep kissing just so the show could go on.
