What got you into cosplay?
I started in about 1997 as far as cosplaying in general, though mainly for Halloween, and gatherings or anime club things. In 2004, I became more full fledged and starting doing it for conventions as well. I only in the past year though have really gotten more obsessed :P at it. I have always just loved dressing up and playing the role of my favorite characters from the series' I enjoy. It's also just so much fun.
What was your first costume and why?
My first major costume I can think (remember) where two different ones, which I did for a Halloween party at a anime club I used to go to. I dressed as Light (Raito) Yagami from Death Note for that party, then later that evening did a sort of Gothic take on the Mew Mews from Tokyo Mew Mew, for another party at a co-workers house later that evening. I wanted to do stuff that was new (Light- Death Note just released Vol. 1 of manga) and different (Gothic Mew- Just something weird and wild).
What is your favorite costume and why?
I think my funnest one I did was the one I did for Youmacon 2006. I did a Kurosaki Ichigo in his Bankai form/Hollow. I pretty much hung around most of my non-gopher's (volunteer) time with CloakedSchemer, who was doing Hitsugaya. My only disappointment was that I had to commission a portion of that costume, only because of massive time constraints, between work and school. If I wouldn't have been so sapped on time I would have done the costume myself. I hope to have enough time this coming con season though to make my stuff this time. I miss doing it.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I would like to either try and create and cosplay my one Original Character I play in a Kingdom Hearts RP Chat group I frequent. His name is Xemrak. The costume it self though is not super complex, though probably the most funnest part would be doing the crest on the back of his cloak. The design is so intricate, that I will probably end of having to it scan it up to my computer, enlarge it and then probably hit up a Kinkos to transfer the design to some sort of transfer paper material that can be ironed or whatnot to the back of the cloak, thats how complex the design is.<br> <br> Other characters I would like to try and do, would be Zexion (DONE!!), Edward Elric, Zechs Merquise(from Gundam Wing), Urahara from Bleach, as well as few others from Bleach (Byakuya, Renji, Nel Tu [in progress], Youruichi, Shiba Kuukaku, Grimmjow, Ulquiorra...)<br> <br> A recent addition to my dream list to do are one of the variations of the Organization XIII's clothes done by a DeviantART artist who's handle is DOGiukas. He has a handful of the different Organization XIII members done in costumes that almost perfectly reflect there personalities.<br> <br> Other Costumes I would like to do:<br> -Sir Integra Hellsing (Hellsing)<br> -Lord Munto (Munto)<br> -Virgil (Devil May Cry 3)<br> -Rain Jewlitt (Immortal Rain)<br> -Zol Balfaltin "The Grim Reaper" [Machika's Grandfather] (Immortal Rain)<br> -Lamia (Betterman)<br> -Daigo Asahina (Manga- Firefighter Daigo of Fire Co. M)
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
I think so far, probably hanging out with CloakedSchemer at Youmacon 2006. We kinda made it our mini mission I think to hunt down all us Bleach cosplayers and try do different things between all the ones we could find, and get pictures if we could.<br> <br> For ACEN X 2007, I got the grace of being able to meet one of my favorite J-Rock bands, High and Mighty Color. I went to there concert, which also had a performance by Spiral Spiders. The next day of the con, they had a panel and autograph session which I went to, and sat and listened to them answer the questions of there American fans. Of course I had recently gotten away from the Bleach photoshoot so I was still dressed as Bankai Ichigo, carrying my Zangetsu. When I went up to have my CD signed by them, the one asked if he could he see my Zangetsu, and I said sure and let him look it over. The one member then let the others look at it and they all smiled as the one handed it back to me and said 'very cool'. I was so happy, I thought I might faint. I hugged that poor prop for about 20 minutes, which did get wierd looks from people when I was walking around the con, till I told them why. Of course, just about everyone was like 'no way, seriously?! cool!' It was my pride for the rest of the day. I carried that Zangetsu like it was the winning lotto ticket worth 10 million.<br> <br> For AWA XIII, I helped run a KH/Organization event which we had a blast, in fact there's a few items on Youtube of us....including a Can Can attempt and another called 'Not Worthy' which involved a golden Oathkeeper. If you seek out RaijiMagiwind on Youtube and check my favorites, you can find some of them. In other fun, Vic Mignogna nearly got stampeded at the Fire and Ice ball by rabid Edward Elric and Dark Mousy fangirls, when he got spotted. He even had at least three ask for him to dance with them. He just kinda backed away to the door slowly, with the deer in headlights look on his face, then once he got close enough, he turned and bolted praying that the fangirls wouldn't stampede after him. It was classic and just priceless. I just wish I would have had my camera with me to snag that priceless look on his face.<br> <br> For Youmacon 2007, it was the invasion of the "Bleach Army" as the characters of Bleach descended upon the convention on Saturday. We ended up over stepping the capacity level of the original shoot location and had to move outside. What followed was a mass migration of Shinigami, Vizard, and Arr
Do you participate in masquerades?
I never had the chance, so Youmacon 2006, was the one where I popped the Masquerade cherry so to speak. I was a little nervous and ended up doing out of the blue as a solo's skit, a round of moves that showed off some of his moves more or less. It wasn't the greatest, but I'm still happy I finally got to do something like it.<br> <br> AWA 2007 was my second masquerade, where I did Zexion. I didn't win anything, but I had fun, though between fanning myself, a Alucard cosplayer in front of me and a Majin Boo cosplayer behind me my arm defiantly got tired...
What was your best masquerade experience?
The fact that the random thing I did for my first ever Masquerade was so-so (and completly out of the blue, I mean as I got on stage random) and I was nervous as hell, I felt good doing it, and having the chance to be able to enjoy myself in front of my fellow anime fans.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Not yet, I hope to eventually.
Tell us a little about yourself
Well, still live at home, with the ma, dad, and younger sister (16) and work in a hospital, in the kitchen. I live with two cats, two dogs, and two hermit crabs. I enjoy doing many things, including drawing, writing, reading. I am currently going to school online through University of Phoenix and Axia Collage for degree in Information Technology and Visual Communications, with plans to expand it to include animation, and game design and the like.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Well hummmm....I an a massive Final Fantasy VII freak with a absolute obsession for Sephiroth... I am a Yaoi fan (and a Yaoi fanfic writer) and actually am currently writing a AkuRoku fic, which I have up at DeviantART, as well as at fanfiction.net (Raiji Magiwind). I have a fetish for silver haired bishies though in general, and many of my male original characters have silver hair.<br> <br> For those who which to follow me everywhere else:<br> <br> Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/raijimagiwind <br> Livejournal: http://raijimagiwind.livejournal.com/ <br> Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=741048118 <br> DeviantART: http://raijimagiwind.deviantart.com/ <br> Sheezyart: http://raiji.magiwind.sheezyart.com/ <br> American Cosplayer's Paradise (ACP): http://www.acparadise.com/display.php?a=40934 <br> Cosspace: http://www.cosspace.com/RaijiMagiwind (this one kinda naked...but been busy....><)
