What got you into cosplay?
I caught the bug when I first attended Anime Expo in 2002, but it took me a couple years to emass the courage and skills to pull it off.
What was your first costume and why?
Kagura from Inuyasha. She's one of my favorite characters from a popular series and I felt she was under-represented at the time. Plus, I ran into some awesome luck and found a vintage plain white kimono on a sales rack in Little Tokyo (this was before I learned how to sew, so altering clothes was the best I could do).
What is your favorite costume and why?
I love all my cosplay, but Kagura holds a special place in my heart since she was the first costume I ever made and I spent a few years constantly improving it.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I'd love to re-do Lady Kayura from Ronin Warriors/Samurai Troopers. My first attempt was a bit sad, since it was my second costume and I didn't know what I was doing at ALL with the armor. I'd also love to do Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Demona from Gargoyles, Catwoman, and way too many others to name. The list keeps growing.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
The first was when I cosplayed Kagura with my ex as Sesshoumaru at AX 07. We were trying to shop in the dealers hall, but were unable to because we kept getting stopped for pictures. It was irritating at the time (we had to leave without buying anything) but afterwards I felt very proud and flattered.
The second is how many times I've been asked if the dreadlocks wig I styled for Izumi is my real hair.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Not yet, but I'm planning to soon.
My favorite anime
Fullmetal Alchemist, Rurouni Kenshin, Kimagure Orange Road, and any mecha/giant robot series with a solid plot. I'm also a sucker for anything historical (I absolutely love alternate realities/histories.)
My favorite game(s)
Lunar (except the DS game. That battle system sucked!), Final Fantasy series, Kingdom Hearts, Suikoden... or any decent RPG.
My favorite book(s)
A lot... I'm pretty much a fantasy/sci-fi bookworm.
