What got you into cosplay?
I started by wearing Victorian dresses on a daily basis (the whole nine yards - petticoats, bloomers, chemise, corset, etc.), which evolved into movie costumes, and then anime cosplay. I've never crossplayed (I just can't tame the girls!) but I'd like to try eventually.
What was your first costume and why?
Madeleine's Green ballgown from Interview with the Vampire. I absolutely love the movie, and that dress was one of the big costume highlights for me. I don't think I'll ever really retire it. <3
What is your favorite costume and why?
Right now? Cardinal Caterina Sforza. :D She's big and flooshy and has enough bugle beads to blind unsuspecting passers-by! Wahahahaha!
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I would love, love, LOVE to make Desdemona from Gargoyles. (Yes Desdemona, not Demona.) She was my cartoon crush as a kid, I fell in love with her the moment they introduced her. Need to get in shape before I can do that, though. ^^;
Other than that, I'd love to recreate Madam du Barry's gown from the 1938 Marie Antoinette. It's huge, it's shiny, it's over the top, and I absolutely love it. :D
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
That moment when I changed from the one recognizing everyone to the one being recognized. :D It was an amazing feeling, like I'd finally made it as a good cosplayer. ^^
Do you participate in masquerades?
I -finally- got over my fear of going on stage at AnimeFest 2009, and it was well worth it! My cosplay group, Better than Stuff, won a Judge's Award for the Master division. ^^
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
2nd place in a Lord of the Rings costume contest for my Arwen Bridge dress, and 1st for my Helm's Deep Legolas that I made for my sister.
Tell us a little about yourself
I work for Mary Kay, and I love it. It's a bit up and down, though, so I don't have steady money for cosplay or shenanigans. :-/ I'm in a cosplay group called Better than Stuff, and I love elaborate costumes. ^^
