What got you into cosplay?
I attended a Megacon ( www.megaconventions.com ) way back in the 1990s, and the *very* few people in costume there really made me want to do it. I put it off for awhile since I didn't have anyone else interested in running around in costume like myself. It wasn't until JACON 2001 that I tried it out and was hooked.
What was your first costume and why?
Misao Makimachi (Rurouni Kenshin). At the time, I had just finished watching Kenshin and I loved Misao's energy, plus we have so little time. I couldn't sew at all and a friend's mom made the main part from a pattern that was *horrible*. There were no kimono patterns back then. So it was a robe pattern.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Enki / Rokuta from Juuni Kokki. I've gotten a lot of compliments from it, and it's comfortable. There are a few things on it I would redo, though. It also got a fantastic photoshoot in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. It was absolutely freezing outside, though.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Several, in fact. The list constantly changes. Some of them are because I've always loved the character, and some are challenges for me to do something I haven't before.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Every time I put on a costume and go take a photoshoot -- it always ends up being memorable. We're all so incredibly goofy. I'd have to say two of the biggest events for me have to be: My first Anime Expo and my first Yaoicon. Yaoicon more specifically for when I met a good number of the most awesome people I'll ever know, and Anime Expo USA for changing how I look at other conventions -- large and small. Although, being a judge at a costume contest and being staff at different conventions are memorable experiences as well.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Usually, no.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Yes, but nothing major since I don't participate in the Masq. that often. Usually Hall Cosplay or small event awards.
