Blasphemy Blue

Hello!

My name is Blasphemy, and I have been cosplaying for five years. I'm nineteen years old, and I am going to college for a degree in Communications. I have two cats, a dog, and a fish named Mister Marian, and one of the cats, the fish, and I live in a cozy studio apartment in a little college town in the north of Colorado. I have a little red Yamaha scooter I have named the Flying Pussyfoot, and I ride it as often as possible!

In my spare time, I do excessive amounts of college homework and run my own online business. I am currently adjusting from a move back to Colorado from halfway across the country, but once I get settled again I will be working on a contract with a modeling agency in the Denver area.

I love mango-strawberry smoothies and bubble tea. Someday, I want to open a cupcake and bubble tea shop of my very own, but first I have to get through college!

The biggest problems I have when I make costumes is confidence- I'm always scared to mess something up, or do something wrong, and sometimes it keeps me from doing something completely! I'm starting to overcome my anxieties, however, and aiming for perfection through alteration over simple completion.

I love to cosplay both boys and girls, and my dream is to one day win an award with one of my costumes! After that, I would love to work at conventions doing promotional work.

I know I have relatively few costumes, but I'm a perfectionist, so work is slow. I like to use the best fabrics, quality wigs, and get quality photos before I post them here, so bear with me!

What got you into cosplay?
I was bedridden from spinal surgery in the summer of 2004, and being left to only do things that involved me lying down or sitting in a big cushy chair, I started sewing a costume. It was a bad, bad costume, but it was the beginning of an obsession.
What was your first costume and why?
My first costume was Yoko Kurama, mainly because YYH was the first anime I was truly passionate about. (Besides Yu-Gi-Oh, of course, but I didn't think I could dress up like one of them...)
What is your favorite costume and why?
My favorite costume so far has to be my Mew Berry costume; It was a pain in the ass to sew, but it was fun to wear and looked adorable.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Every Rhode Kamelot outfit, honestly. That, and a lot of others listed under planned costumes.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Doing it right after back surgery at NDK 2004. I was scared I'd die. Even though I was exhausted and my back was achy after the fact... It was pretty awesome. XD
Do you participate in masquerades?
Yes, despite the fact that it scares me half to death.
What was your best masquerade experience?
I didn't throw up when I went onstage. That capped the success for me.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Not yet~
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm a senior in high school who knits compulsively and can never keep her hands still. I fold paper stars a lot, do needlepoint, sew (obviously), quilt, and draw. Writing stories is another of my passions, and I am currently working on a novel that I hope to finish sometime before I die.
