What got you into cosplay?
Well, waaaayyy back in the days before anime cons really even existed..A group of people from Cali decided to MAKE one, called AnimeAmerica. In 1990, me and my friends heard about it, and we were goofing around and someone joked.."Hey Lisa..You look -alot- like Kei, from The Dirty Pair...You should make that as a costume, and go to the con!" Hehehe..Well, I had NO IDEA about cosplay, but I took the challenge and with a friend to go as Yuri, I made it to the con, and well...^_^ I haven't looked back ever since!
What was your first costume and why?
Kei, from The Dirty Pair..This was based on the Project Eden versions of the costumes. Why? Because I looked like her, and my friends convinced me. *LOL*
What is your favorite costume and why?
It changes, honestly. I would have to say Cutey Honey, as it was made for me as a birthday present, and was totally unexpected. The emotions behind her are so strong, PLUS, she's my fave character of all-time. Right after Honey comes Kanna, followed by Leona.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I have a few..Some are totally obtainable, some..Will take some hard work to ever see the light of day.
Vanessa from KOF, Iron Knight Honey, Lady Devilman, Airi from Those Who Hunt Elves.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Getting to mee Haruka Tachichio, the creator of The Dirty Pair, while dressed as Kei, and getting his BIG thumbs-up on my job! One day, i'll meet Go Nagai, while wearing Cutey Honey! Getting to go to Japan, and cosplay both trips in one year was awesome.
Do you participate in masquerades?
I've got no desire to compete anymore.
What was your best masquerade experience?
The audience reaction at SDCC 2002, doing our Resident Evil skit. And in 1992 while dressed as Kei- I sang a modified version of George Thorogood's "Born to be Bad" as part of our skit, acapella! I was sooo scared, but it turned out good. (and funny)
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
I won Best Re-creation at Project A-Kon 5, and our group won an industry award at SDCC for our Resident Evil skit in 2002.
Tell us a little about yourself
Got married in April of 2005.. No kids. I do have 2 dogs I spoil terribly. My job is very mundane but pays well, so I can keep cosplaying!!!
