What got you into cosplay?
My parents definitely. They are anime lovers, cosplayers, and they support my family and I in every cosplay. I began mainly as a baby cosplaying with my family on gatherings. And then it came that when I got older I decided to cosplay and learn how to make my own costumes. Now, I'm a Japanese teacher also in the US and I also love spreading my love of cosplay. I don't take cosplaying seriously, I just do it for the fun and it's a way of expresisng my love of anime. Much how I play anime music. It's basically putting various of my favorite hobbies and already making it even better! I'm a cosplayer for fun. ^_____^
What was your first costume and why?
My first costume has to be Heidi from Heidi of the Alps. It was my mom's favorite anime and she decided to make me look like Heidi. And my hair was short when I was little. xD
What is your favorite costume and why?
It definitely has to be my Kagura costume. It's my signature costume, mainly because I wear the Pikachu "Pii-chan" backpack with it.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Definitely. I saw the art book for Utena, which I bought as well, and one picture was Utena in whings, tunic, with laces and lots of sequins. I can definitely work on that. It's my favorite anime of all time.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Well, at Anime Los Angeles 2007, we performed as Kanon's Revolution. It was a blast, especially the Halo Theme. And my favorite part, I taught Pikmin Link a little violin!! =D *huggles Crimson, my violin.* Just talking to her, having her watch me play...it was my dream. I'll work hard to play the Link theme! =D
Do you participate in masquerades?
I have once before; it was a short improvisation my friend Motoko-chan and I made at MikomiCon 2007.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Motoko-chan and I haven't done the skit yet due to complications, but she and I made the most hilarious lyrics to our Lolita Pokemon cosplay. Still yet to come. xD
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
I haven't entered any. ^^;; Sadly, no. Too many that I could have, but I don't know.
Tell us a little about yourself
Well, I'm currently a high school student, and I teach Japanese at an American high school and online. I play violin, overachieve at school, and do graphic designing and lots of cosplay, and lots and lots of snowboarding. I hope to go to the Ueda College of Fashion for fashion design, though I will keep up my love for astrophysics and physics. But I believe cosplaying will be part of my life. It's already. XD It's my hobby, my love, and my passion. (Along with my violin) I have a Para Para Team group called Kiwi Project which I constantly arrange auditions, so yay! And I'm in Kanon's Revolution, the anime string quartet.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Well........I guess I can say I'm like Kagura...XD I like making friends, and it's wonderful. And...my violin's name is Crimson Wings, or just Crimson, but my friends named it Marcus, Kaeda, Horror, and Star Wing Fumasu. XD My trumpet's name is Donald Trumpet. (Thanks to Shadow-han XD) I also have a 200 year old custom Parisian violin named Constantine (thanks Shadow-han!) after John Constantine.
